Im happy with the beaters i use right now BUT i want something for other uses.

1) Beater to be used on claves
2) Beater with more attack at high volumes but the ability to play nicely at low volumes
3) A beater for cowbells.

The beater also has to be fairly lightweight as a heavy one will cancel out what i gain by using direct drive.

Sonic hammers and IC beaters are NOT an option as i dislike them both.

For number 2 i absoulutly recommend 100% dw hardcore beater, smash it in the head for huge attack and volume and tap it in the head for small volume but still a great sound!

Puresound beater? No idea. I think Pearl make a Horatio Hernandez beater for clave.

Mapex Beaters are 3-way...plastic, felt and wood...can't go wrong with that.

Thanks children.

The mapex one would be no good for soft playing.

Try a soft felt beater that could be good!

i'd say DW hardcore because that can be soft or hard. i don't think a wood beater would do too well because that would dominate a cowbell or a jam block or w.e

Ive got a soft felt beater, but that cant recreate the attack in the heavier parts. I dont wanna be dicking around changing beaters between songs.

For clave and cowbell I'd check out a wood, plastic, or like "specialty" beater.

Phil..
That's what I meant when I said "Specialty Beaters".
I think they exist, I had no knowledge of their existance before this post.

*shrug* dunno there's tons out there. The DW beaters are great.

Check out the Slug Percussion ones too.

Is that the gaint fuzzy one?

I have one of those I think. I have a huge fuzzy one that is so friggin rad. Thing is like 4" wide.

It begs for a 26" kick with fiberskyns.

Phil is right about the softer playing however I find this beater very good!

Great cowbell beater.

No clue about the other, though. I love felt beaters.

That's kind of a difficult request, as very few beaters are exactly versatile. However, anything other then a plastic or wood beater is going to sound pretty bad on a cowbell, so I'd recommend Danmar Redwood Beaters.

Great cowbell beater.

No clue about the other, though. I love felt beaters.

That looks like a modified tampon with a metal rod shoved up it

What about a rubber one for the cowbells. I saw some danmar rubber ones on friday.
