He isn't that good. He just playing odd time signatures with a metal feel. Odd time signatures have been around for a long time.

he's great... he's got a good finesse.
what was with the piece of tape on the guitar?

^ since he was only playing chords on the two lowest strings, and he has a seven string, he taped them so they wouldnt resonate and make any nosie

Yeah, plus playing those odd times so smoothly while being that relaxed is really easy also...
On the question about playing with Zappa, he never actually played with him, he had a Zappa tribute band when he was younger and one of his aquaintances contacted Zappa and told him about the band and Zappa wanted to meet with them. They met up and Morgan and the keyboard player who is the other guy in the band knew a good amount of Zappa material and that impressed Zappa. Zappa asked them if they wanted to play a song live at one of their shows and they did, Zappa was just staring at them as they played smiling. He got to meet the rest of the 88' band and play on Chad's kit! That's almost as good as getting to play with Zappa.
I think Morgan is a great drummer, he can pull this stuff off and also hold his own in other styles, there's more videos of him on youtube of him playing some other tunes.

If you got rid of the guitar, I'd like it 100x more. Or a cleaner tone or something. It's so muddy and repetitive. I guess it's just not my thing, I can't really stand Meshuggah for the most part.
/Runs from fanboys.
Great drumming, though. He looks so jolly.
