Oi is street rock'n'roll or "pub rock". Normally done by skinheads and their kin, Oi music is rock'n'roll that normally covers topics like working, being a skinhead, football, fighting, being anti-authority, etc.
i.e. CockSparrer, the Oppressed, the Prowlers, Sham 69, 4Skins, Condemned 84, Blitz (disputable), etc.
Street Punk is just a more aggressive form of punk rock and the classic 77 sound.
i.e. the Exploited, the Casualties, English Dogs, A Global Threat, etc

that's right.
close thread before this becomes a discussion thread please.
Oi = football hooligans with guitars.
Can be AMAZING ie Cockney Rejects & **** Sparrer, or really depressingly working-class-poltical - everything on Son of Oi! pretty much.
Not really listened to huge amounts of it to be fair apart from CR, CS, 4 Skins, Angelic Upstarts and Sham, but the compilation album I got was almost unlistenable.
But Cockney Rejects and **** Sparrer are easily in my top 10 punk bands, easily.
Street Punk I really don't know, I'd just go with the Exploited?
I always thought street punk was a 'fashion' (you know what I mean) style rather than a genre? Cos you have the street punks in london, dunno what street punk bands are though?
that's right.

Oh **** off, just because you don't like a genre doesn't mean we can't discuss it, prick.
If you admit to not being a punk why are you even in the punk forum?

Because I started here and this is where all my friends are. I don't even come here to discuss punk rock just music in general.

Don't forget that alot of UK 82 bands are considered Street Punk.
And Street Punk/Oi is very close.

**** you, if you don't want us to discuss punk in the punk forum then you shouldn't be here, dickhead.

Kevin if you have nothing to say except to act cool and "diss" someone because they're not as musically enlightened as you either help them out or don't post in the thread!

Their is only one good oi band and that is the 4-Skins and they are only ok, Iron Cross is also ok. All street punk sucks. The end.
Oh god forbid turning an Oi thread into an Oi thread

I guess not everyone is punk enough like yourself to be friends with anarchists like Eran Cohen and smash the state while listening to Hanoi Rocks and dressing up in old womens clothing.
Yeah.

Well there is an Oi Education thread already in existence. The original poster only had to search for it, or check the rules thread. I simply felt like explaining what he asked about.
This thread's purpose has been fulfilled. He now knows the difference and has received examples.

Thanks guys I shall check out the Street Punk bands mentioned, I know realise I already listen to a lot of Oi. I remeber looking at the band list in one of these forums, and its just as contradictory as any other source, thought I'd just ask some real people.

Jon, if I interpreted your post correctly, you are thus stating you are a 'punk' and if I remember correctly, it was you who told me that you "don't label yourself anything" or something to that extent. So, why use a hypocritical statement to tell Flagjacket to "get out of the Punk forum" ?
On topic: Oi is skinhead rock'n'roll -- usually focuses around working class lyrics, and the whole skinhead lifestyle -- i.e. the drinking, the soccer, the boots, the suspenders... all aspects of the Oi!/Skinhead lifestyle.
Some Oi! bands: C'ock Sparrer, Last Resort, 4 Skins, Cockney Rejects.
Streetpunk is more of an aggressive 3-chord assault. Usually fast paced, repetitive, music with screamed (most of the time unintelligible) lyrics on top of it. Streetpunk is generally known for it's fairly basic/awful lyrics, and almost every streetpunk band has their signature "I'm a punk, f'uck you" song, or the "drink beer/f'uck the government/hooray for mayhem!" song. Streetpunk I believe is the most common form of punk, and streetpunks can thus be easily picked out. Dyed mohawks, "bondage" pants, studded jackets, and usually wearing multiple (unusable) bullet belts.
Some Streetpunk bands: The Casualties, Unseen, A Global Threat, Chaotic Alliance, Antidote.

Oi is a bunch of shitty bands all making the same exact songs over and over again.
Street punk is just absolute **** music.
And stop quoting Jon, I have him ignored for a reason and don't need to see his shitty posts.

Did I? Didn't I?
I dunno?
I'm not a punk, depending on your definition of punk, but the basic qualifier of posting in this forum is listening to punk music, which I do.
That said, the rest of your post was really good, rep++.
I thought Nick left. I wish he would :(
