What do you guys think? I'm building a guitar and I'm not sure if giving it 24 frets is going to be worth the change in the tone of the neck pickup. How much will those two frets change the tone? The second octave might be nice to have but is it worth it?

I've never really been aware of a change in tone from the extra 24 frets, not one that I considered a bad thing anyway.

I'd much rather have the full second octave.

Why would it change the tone, unless you have to move the pickup?

Why would it change the tone, unless you have to move the pickup?

because with guitars, the neck pup is right up on the neck, unlike bass.

think about your needs. if you play mostly metal and rock, solo alot, and primarily use the bridge pickup, i would choose more frets. if you play more acoustic style stuff, you generally won't need the extra frets and you can keep the sound how it is.

If you move the pickup the distance of those 2 frets, it wont make a huge difference.

It might not even be noticable.

go for the 2 octaves, or maybe go with 3 and only have one pickup
