I was wondering. do you think it's possible to be a great actress & a singer
at the same time. And which female actress/singer do you think has the best
acting AND singing talent?
I started thinking about this after I found out that Jennifer Landon
(daughter of Michael Landon of 'Highway to Heaven', 'Little House on the
Prairie', & 'Bonanza' fame) who followed her dad's acting career and really
did well in the daytime soap AWS (As the World Turns) went on to launch a
singing career. I believe she only has 1 song out right now, called Slide,
but it's really good. You can check it on iTunes if you like.
Any thoughts?"
I hate to say it but look at Barbara Streisand. A lot of musicians have tried the acting thing but it usually doesn't work out.
BJORK.
Her performance in Dancer in the Dark is mindblowing, legendary, and her music is amazing amazing.

In my opinion, I absolutely dislike when an actor/actress form a band and expects it to blow up on the charts because they are famous within the actng industry. For example, Paris Hilton, David Hasselhoff, William Shatner, Michael Pitt, Keanu Reeves, etc... But there are those few who do make it seem alright. Jared Leto for one, he's not an incredible musician, but he does have his own style, and he makes it sound pretty good. Im not a fan of 30 seconds to mars by any means, I am just stating a general analysis. Im not here to judge anyone, and it really isn't my duty to stand up, and brand these actors/actresses on what they want to do. All I can really say is that some have it, and some don't. By the way I heard that Vida Guerra is thinking about taking up singing!

All Australian and all fairly good singers. Their acting skills is up to date with most only being TV stars. Cough... Neighbours fan...cough.

I was just listening to that recently, coincidentally. It didn't make me want to kill myself. I'm not sure if that makes it a good cover or not.
I'm glad someone mentioned Zooey Deschanel.
