wow this stuff is crazy. ive been listening to these guys a lot lately and for some odd reason i really love it. Flight of the Behemoth is truely great, with Merzbow's remixes really producing some scary music ( i dont know if you would call it that). does anybody else like these guys? what are your thoughts on them.

I'm surprised at all of the dislike for Sunn O))) around here. While I don't listen to them daily, when they're fitting they are an amazing band. Powerful and brooding. Their recent collaboration with Boris, Altar, is a much easier listen than other material I've heard from them.

i think the main thing that blocks people from liking them is that they have to get past the idea that sunn 0))) isnt in the realm, or meant to be considered, conventional music. if you read their interviews, they talk about how they want their music to induce a trance like state through their rumbling feedback. i also appreciate their stuff because it really pushes the envelope of what is to be considered listenable music, and kind of makes you question where you draw the line between music and senseless noise.

That's not at all why I dislike them. I listen to a good bit of music that challenges the ideas of "conventional" music way more and, more importantly, in way more interesting ways than Sunn.

Pretty much. Not every band has to be constantly pushing any envelope. I like Sunn O))) because they have good songs. Sure, sometimes I don't feel like listening to them, but it's the same with any other band.

One of my favorite bands. Black One, The Grimmrobe Demos and White1 are all fantastic pieces of work. The Grimmrobe Demos have put me in a trance every night for the last couple months. Amazing.
