Im sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but I dont listen to them so I dont know what they are classified as. I am looking for a Radiohead song for my friend, but Im not sure what it is called....Any help would be much appriciated.
It was a Bside to Radiohead's Creep cassette single. I believe its called "The Jean Song", but Im not sure...The first lyrics are..
"I've had these jeans since I was born,
And now there ripped and now there torn"

You gotta admit The Bends is by far their best album. By far. I own them all, but I only still listen to The Bends. OK Computer was great when it first came out, but now in comparison to The Bends, it just lacks.

Kyle
11-28-2006, 03:40 PM
I think The Bends is one of the bands less fantastic records, actually. I still really enjoy it, but in comparrison with Kid A or OK Computer it's kind of lacking.

The thing with Radiohead is after they made the hunk of crap which is Pablo Honey, they have made 5 albums at an impeccable standard. I always find it difficult to say which one is my favorite because each album appeals to me in different ways. I always saw The Bends as a great crossover record between generic rock to where they are now, but it doesn't have enough to compete with the big 2.

As far as Amnesiac and Hail to The Thief go, I have them on a similar pedastal to The Bends, but I can't really decide between them either. So to sum up;

Kid A = OK Computer > HTTF = Amnesiac = The Bends >>>>>>>>> Pablo Honey

Electronic Wolf
11-28-2006, 03:44 PM
They have only made one good record - Kid A.

DBoons Ghost
11-28-2006, 03:59 PM
Interesting. So I guess you viewed their desperate attempts at that deep avantgarde type experiemental crap as a good change from the awesome anthemic guitar rock with an indie twist?

Radiohead albums i have listened to extensively - OK Computer & Kid A.

Probably the obvious choices, strangely Kid A was my starting album for this band. It is very alienating to listen to, and i didn't much care for it when i first heard it save a few interesting songs. Now i think it's amazing with the atmosphere it captures, it feels very alienating and sad in an abstract way. OK Computer feels very alienating and sad as well, but in a much more direct way. When i got that album i had found some amazing music, not much more can be said about it i guess.

I haven't listened to a lot of the band outside of this era, i had a phase listening to The Bends which is an excellent album, and i gave Pablo Honey a listen on headphones from start to finish the other night which was great. They haven't sunk in yet, I really have to listen to them more. Pyramid Song is a great song i agree, Lydisk.

Single reason the new Radiohead album is going to be amazing.

http://lders.spymac.com/20060815_Rock_OzArenes_Avenches/05%20Bangers%20And%20Mash.mp3

Anyway, if any of you who actually like radiohead are interested in discussing them more you should go to ateaseweb.com. Great website.
Damn it stop posting samples, my temptations to click these links is gonna ruin the whole thing for me, I don't want to hear a peep until I actually have the album in my hand.

I just heard that Radiohead's new album is getting delayed. It now won't be coming out until 2008.

2008 isn't that far away. I was pretty much assuming that was going to be the case, anyway.

i commend you all on your thread necromancy powers. truly you are all servants of the dark lord himself.

and for reference its definitely

1. Kid A+Amnesiac(which is just 1 album whether you like it or not)
2. OK Computer
3. Hail to the Thief
4. The Bends
5. Pablo Honey

and Pablo Honey is way way way behind the rest of them, which are all pretty damn good.

Amnesiac is my favourite album by Radiohead, I just like the tracks a lot more than on other Radiohead albums.

Apocalyptic Raids
08-16-2007, 07:54 AM
Amnesiac was better than I expected it to be.

It's probably my 4th favourite though.

Neoteric
08-16-2007, 07:58 AM
I probably like Amnesiac most cause it's more diverse, it swaps between guitars and electronica but it still feels like a flowing album (unlike Hail To The Thief).

Amnesiac is my favourite too. Followed by Ok Computer and Kid A.

They are pretty much my favourite band though and everything they have made is excellent in its own way. Aside from Pablo Honey obviously.

Neoteric
08-16-2007, 08:23 AM
Yeah, Pablo Honey is miles away from what they would have achieved later. And my favourites are probably the same as yours though I need to listen to Kid A a bit more until I fully get into it.

YouGottaBeCrazy

OK Computer
Kid A
Hail to the Thief
The Bends
Amnesiac
Pablo Honey

and I also agree that PH is way behind the rest of them.

Me too.

pablo honey is a solid album, but its way behind everything else radiohead has done.

Shadius

solidly boring though. It's not a terrible album, it's just not memorable either. I never get the urge to listen to it besides one or two songs, and even then I can tell they're not up to much of Radiohead's later standards.

OKC
The Bends
Kid A
Amnesiac
Hail to the Thief
Pablo Honey

I think their new album could potentially slide nicely in the middle of the list, separating Amnesiac and Kid A from what I've heard, and I'd be quite happy with that, or better. I don't think it will push the two top albums off though, just because of my emotional attachment to them.

Hey I was wondering if someone could find a good torrent for Pablo Honey, Amnesiac and Kid A? I tried a few sites, but the torrent that was posted under the username Darkside did not work and that is the only one that I could find. If noone is able to find one then could someone who has the albums upload them and share, I will give graditude and rep.

people here who say they hate radiohead are ****ing gay

theyre only saying that because there are a lot of huge radiohead fanboys... the same reason people say that other artists suck... sufjan stevens comes to mind

but they are a very good band and i would prefer their music to 95% of other music out there, and the fact that other people share the same opinion (sometimes too outspokenly) really doesn't change the fact that they write good music

anyways, i only have Kid A, OK Computer, and The Bends. those are listed in order of favorite to least favorite. but i need to get some more soon, i think ill look into Amnesiac and HTTT

I can see people genuinely not liking Radiohead. I love them to bits, but yeah.

Hail to the Thief is a tad too long for my tastes, but Amnesiac, Kid A and OK Computer are all amazing. The Bends has some amazing tracks on it, but also some not so amazing ones (Sulk? anyone?). Still a fantastic album though.

i mean its pretty good, accessible music. but yeah whatever

i looked through the thread to see how many people pulled what i was talking about and the only one was margin walker. what a fagggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg gggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

but yea i mean genuinely not liking them, whatever sure, but i would expect most people here would appreciate them. anyways im done with this thread i think it should probably die. there should be a way you can vote for threads to die and if like 15 people or something vote for it... its closed. it should have happened to the Post Rock is Obsolete thread, and it should happen to the Mae thread. and it should happen to this thread

so its official. it dies today.

They've apparently made the new album just need to somehow release it. I think thats the challenge for Radiohead as they have no label that is backing them.

I like Pablo Honey.
It contains Creep which can make any album good enough to listen to at least once with a masterpiece like that on it.
