I love this band. I have Tanglewood Numbers, American Water, and The Natural Bridge. They're all great albums and I love how they vary their musical style from album to album. I think David Berman is a genious, etc. And I don't think it's right how they are compared to Pavement. Any other Silver Jews fans around here?

I'm a huge Silver Jews fan. American Water is a masterpiece.

i think it's wierd when people compare bands like they do these two, cause when you think about it, they don't really sound at all alike.

One of my favorite bands. American Water is a perfect album.

My favourite song from them right now is probably "How to Rent a Room". I think the lyrics are brilliant.

"People" would come in a close second.

It's all about "Buckingham Rabbit" and "I Remember Me" for me.

Their instrumental, "Night Society", rocks pretty heavily though.

They're awesome. I have a half-written review praising "American Water" that I can never get around to finishing.

From what I've heard, I seriously like this band. Haven't got my hands on a full length yet though.

Haha yeah, the first time I heard that song I was like "what the ****?", but then I got it stuck in my head.

Later Pavement does, and even "Range Life" can pass as a Silver Jews song imo.

But yeah, Berman writes the best lyrics. I still have to get their earlier albums.

There's a lot of crossover between American Water and Brighten the Corners in terms of mood. Malkmus co-wrote several of the tracks on AW, so it's only natural.

Perhaps that's why Brighten the Corners is, gasp, my favorite (and obviously the best) Pavement album...
