well we got there about half an hour early and waited and they finally came on and a guy got up on stage and started telling a story and they went through at least 10 songs all following that theme. THEY WHERE INCREDIBLE! they are all insanely good musicians it's not even funny, they had a local orchestra group fill in and of course there own violinist with his bad *** V violin. after there theme based stuff they launched into songs form there other albums, you would think that there just classical and rock/metal but they where playing Jazz, Swing, Pop etc. there vocalist for Swing was incredibly good and usually im not into that kind of music.
then after one song they focused on the drummer with the lights (which was incredibly complex show, pyrotechnics lasers, smoke you name it) and I knew straight away it was going to be a drum solo, I had already known at this point that the whole band where amazing but I had yet to hear much from the drummer and he just belted it and did some pretty slick ****, i have definitely heard better (not live) but in videos but this guy was really really good. then then played a few more songs then the lead guitarist came out in a Portland Pirates jersey (they played at what is also a hockey rink) and was talking about that commercial they did with the Christmas lights and launched into that song.
then the guitarist came out again and said that there was going to be a keyboard battle....and being a keyboardist i was a little more than happy to hear this. There female keyboardist started it off with come Bach Toccata and Fugue, then Rob Kinkle launched into a cool Jazz/Swing song, the female came back with i believe some Chopin, then rob started chopsticks which had everyone screaming but not after the other keyboardist started up the theme for Charlie brown, then they launched into a few more songs. then they raised a platform where the sound stage is and turned on some tanks....hmmm pyrotechnics maybe?
they did that for one of there really heavy orchestral songs which i think is based off a Bach song. then they started Christmas in Sarajevo (one of there most famous songs) and the bassist and guitarist both ran through the crowd onto yet another platform on the sound stage and were hoisted up to about nosebleed level while still playing the **** out of there songs.
Probably one of the best concerts I've ever been too and if you want an incredible night I HIGHLY recommend going.
