So Im working on a custom les-paul, got the body and neck several days ago, and the hardware is all mostly already here. Im going to be putting in Seymour Duncan '59 Classic Humbuckers, Grover Deluxe LP Classic tuners, and standard TOM Bridge. Decided to split the knobs into black and white. Black volumes and White tones.

Figured id throw pics of it up here.

First day: Sanded down and with one coat of stain on it, going for a natural finish, because you rarely see any natural finished les pauls out there.

It was dropped when someone decided they HAD to use the ladder NOW, and didnt see the need to have me move it for them, tried to move it from its hanging place and put a slight chip/scuff in it above the switch-cavity, near the neck pocket. Sanded it out best I could, and it's barely noticable now, except for a slightly darker stain mark on it.

Four days along, four coats of stain at which point I decided I liked the color and didn't want to darken it any more.
Three coats of clear, going to be sanded tonight, and three more in the next day or two until I build up to about 15-20 coats.

this might only be with me, but whenever i put painter's tape on my strat's fretboard, it sucks out all the moisture leaving wherever the tape was dry and lighter coloured. just something to watch out for, i don't know if it applies to all guitars.
other than that, it's looking great.

That is looking pretty sweet. I don't think I've ever seen a natural finished LP. Where did you get the body from?

I don't like your idea about black and white knobs though

Otherwise, gg

Yeah, its a SAGA body, i replaced everything else.

ITS FINISHED!! Was using a very hard-drying poly spray on it and the finish actually cured very quickly, cant even scratch it with my belt buckle easily (tried, out of amusing myself). Here it is all yummy and put together, plays like a freakin dream (though i need to have it professionally set up, didnt want to fark with the trussrod and bridge *too* much). has a very slight bow to the neck after trussrod adjustment, plays great.

As always, sorry for shite pic quality, as its a shite camera:

And if you dont like my black and white knobs, bite me! I will eventually put all gold hardware on it, and some nice gold pickup covers but at the moment Im flat out and cant bother with so much debt.

Nice! The black and white knobs gives it a very unique touch!

It'd be even more nice with pickup covers though IMO
;p

I quite like it without pickup covers

It looks good man :thumb: for me though, little changes to the hardware. All black knobs, maybe a plain pickguard ....

EDIT: oic, the pickguard is plain. Ok

The gold colored "speed knobs" would look great on that guitar...

That looks ace. Add some gold knobs and it would be perfect.
