Cat Stevens has just this week released his first album in 28 years. I myself am not a huge Cat Stevens fan or anything, but I do not mind his music. Plus, my mom loves his stuff, and was very sad when he dropped off the face of the earth because of his religion.

But now with the release of An Other Cup, Cat Stevens is back, and the album is getting good reviews. From what I heard he did sound remarkably like he did in the 70's. It sounded very good.

Anyone else heard this new album? Thoughts/opinions?

My mother was always a huge fan of him, but she thinks he turned into an absolute nutcase and so do I.

It's not really his first album in 28 years, is it? Just his first aimed at a popular Western audience for that long.

Anyway, the songs he played from it on Jools Holland sounded pretty good. Not rushing-out-to-buy-the-album good, but good enough to have me thinking about plundering my parents' Cat Stevens collections, which is a start.

I wouldn't call him a nutcase. It's just not very often that you loose a musician to religion.

I only saw him play two songs on Jools Holland, one of which was a new track, but it sounded great. Really well arranged.

I heard the new single, the "Heaven" part was kinda bad, really made me doubt Cat for a sec, but Where True Love Goes is a great song, if not too overproduced for his ageless, earthly voice

Interesting. I only have Teaser & the Firecat and Tea for the Tillerman (the latter is the better of the two), but they're awesome. Father & Son is one of my favorite songs.
