Wa Wa We Wa! SUCCESS!

So the music department at the university I go to had this battle of the bands this week. 140+ bands sent in demos and of those they picked 5 to perform for them, of which my band was one. Now, the performance was held in the recital hall, which is a relatively small room, with accoustics meant so that people in the back could hear piannisimo classical playing, and here I come in with an ampeg svt 4 pro and 8x10 cab. Needless to say we had to change our dynamics considerably. During our initial sound check we turned down to what we thought would be a reasonable level and started playing, everyone in the audience's hands went to their ears in unison with twisted looks of pain on their faces :lol: . I ended up turning down from a 9 to about a 2. So the performance itself went off really well in the end, and we ended up winning! What do we win? A year of free recording, free photos, free press kit, and an entire department acting as a promotions team for us! :thumb: ****ing sweet prize! I'm still recovering from the celebratory throwing of the beer pong ball. Anyway, just wanted to share my good fortune with my fellow forumites :chug: keep it bassy

Wow. You guys are absolutely insane. Your singer has a crazy good voice. I can see you guys making it big, and I don't often think that about small bands. Good guitar and drums too. Just all around really good.
Take it as you want, but I think you guys sound a lot like Story of the Year.

I've read about a fair share of battle of the bands and been apart/gone to many of them and I must say that is, by far, the best prize I've ever heard of. :D

Yeah why is that prize so incredibly good? Granted I live in a mid-sized/smallish town, but the best prize I've ever heard of here was a free recording of one cd. And I thought that was an awesome prize.

Thanks for all the feedback everybody! ya I know the prize is awesome! It's because it's part of a program at my school, so the people who will be promoting for us are people who are learning about the industry so they get some first hand experience with it.
