Can you guys recommend me a good digital recording interface? Cheap is always a plus, as is low latency.

There was a thread just like this last week... with virtually the same thread title. There was a lot of good recommendations in that thread.

As for digital recording interface... Do you mean an independent workstation? If that's the case then there are two things you're going to run into:

Cheap doesn't always equate to something with low latency. Whenever you record to a digital interface, be it a workstation or a PC you're going to have some form of latency. Cheaper units have very noticeable amounts of latency.

The other problem I have with workstations is that unless you're willing to shell out some serious dough you won't be able to get one that records in anything other than 16/44.... Some people might be okay with that, but it just doesn't cut it for me.

Sorry guys, I totally forgot about that and the search function isn't working for me.

I would be totally willing to look into something like you Delta Edge, except that I'm running one of those crap Mini-Tower Dells and I've only got a low-profile PCI slot.

That's too bad, the M-Audio Delta stuff is really top-notch for the price. If your PC can't handle/accept a new card a workstation really will be your best bet. Have a search around the used market for something that will record in at least 24-bit file depth. 32-bit (16.8 float) would be better, but 24 will be a noticeable improvement over 16.

Good luck! :thumb:

M-Audio has some workstations I think, do you have any experience with them?

nope. The only workstations I have experience with is a Fostex one from back in 2000, and a $4,000 Sony unit that despite its massive price tag wasn't all that great.
