I keep getting blisters on the finger I pop with, and it stops me from using it for a day or two. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to build a callus there, or stop myself from getting as many blisters?

Everytime you get one, suck the blood out with a syringe and fill it non-toxic super-glue*

Flea did it so it's probably a bad idea.

If you only pop with one finger that's part of the problem. But you have to just do your best to ignore it until your fingers get used to it.

when its healed up, use white spirit to harden the skin.. just rub a bit on the finger.

Just carry on playin and do nothing to the blister. Just play thru it, and callus will eventually form. Yeah its a pain in the *** but it worked for me and everyone else i know :P

Rip the top of the blister off when it forms. Leave it for like a day or two, so that it heals for a bit. Then just play on top of it, and voila! A callus will form.

If you get a blister often, try not to overdo it when playing...Take it a lil easier until your fingers get used to it.

If you do get a blister, the best thing Ive found to deal with them is to take a needle, sanitize it with a flame or hot water and soap. Then just poke the blister to drain it, and then just let the skin underneath heal....That way you can still play without having an open sore.

Empty it and wait for the skin to harden.

it will slice you are first, but your fingers will get strong layer in the spots needed. one day the callouses just broke and underneeth them was a stronger finger than before

Just play through it or not play for a couple of days, it will go faster that way.

Don't try to pop it and then drain it or whatever because it will become very painful and could infect.

I had this problem recently with my right index finger. I (kinda stupidly) popped it with a needle then decided to peel the skin off so I just had a big raw patch which was impossible to play on.

No big deal, before band practice I just got a roll of medical tape, padded the f*ck out of my fingertip and kept right on playing. As soon as practice was over I took off the tape and let my finger heal naturally. Basically just using the tape whenever I needed to play bass. After a few days I could play without the tape, and now a few weeks later I have a kickarse callous on my finger and haven't had a blister since and I'm slapping and popping like a madman.

And If you're only using one finger (i.e your index finger), try using your middle finger as well and alternating them.

See, someone understands my method!

That is how I go about developing a callus from a blister. I only play on it if I have to, but I let it heal a little bit for a day, and then I play on it, and it develops and nice, hard callus, which doesn't suck.

its only ever happened me once that i got a blister, but i just played with my other fingers until it healed, it was annoying at first but not only did it improve my playing, but i didnt have to endure the pain of playing with a blister...

yea this morning I popped it, drained it and cleaned it, then wrapped it in some medical tape and played. It's not perfect but it will suffice.

Become a pick player!

This works 100% =]

Just build up a callous. I never had to rip mine off but I had callouses forming from just fingerplucking beforehand.
