I mean, for example, if you're from new york, do you support the knicks or do you support a stronger team?

Thank you for the veiled attack on the Knicks, really cheered me up. I root for most of the home teams minus the Bruins. They can go to hell.

New York is a pretty bad example though because we have 2 or 3 teams for each sport. But yeah I'm a fan of the local teams.
MLB
Yankees - Yes
Mets - No
NHL
Rangers - Yes
Islanders - No
Devils - No
NFL
Jets - Yes
Giants - No
NBA
Knicks - Yes (I'm not a fan of basketball but I'd root for them if i had to)
Nets - No
And then for NCAA
Rutgers
I root for the histoic teams except the Giants.
So how did Oakland find a way to blow it today?
lets see, they lost their running back and o-lineman Galllerey, and they are playing on the road in a division rivalry game, it is better that he started Brooks over Walter, or else Oakland would have gotten their asses handed to them

Guys, I live in Nebraska we have the Huskers and thats it.
I really dont like College but sure i guess i support them
Gallary is junk anyways. Fargas is more of a speed guy than Jordon who really just rolls like a rock but since the o-line stinks...
Zmev, i guess you're right, but i have always been a die hard Raider fan, and always will be. and Jordan is now out with a knee injury
on better news, the 49ers were winning 17-0 last time i checked. Alex smith played for the best college( and my hometown). Utah.
it wont let me post, read my quote
Yeah. There were like 5 turnovers in the final two minutes, like one heart attack after another, but we pulled it out. .500 baby

The only pro team in my city is the Trailblazers in the NBA. And ya, I support them, but I dont really like pro basketball, so I dont care much.
Most people around here root for the Seahawks or Mariners, since Seattle is kind of close and we're both "northwest pride lozl!" But I hate both of those teams.

Well I'm from Ottawa but I'm living in Toronto right now.
Hockey - Ottawa Senators
Junior Hockey - Ottawa 67s
Lacrosse - Toronto Rock (supported the Ottawa Rebel for the brief period they existed)
Soccer: Toronto FC (when they start this summer)
Football: Ottawa Rough Riders/Renegades (followed by whatever team we can come up with when Ottawans decide to like football again)
I guess I'd cheer for the Raptors and Blue Jays but I don't follow those sports.
In hockey I'll cheer for any Canadian team in the playoffs as long as they're not Toronto. My Western conference team has traditionally been the Colorado Avalanche because of my boy Joe Sakic but I'm weaning myself toward the Wild for when Sakic retires. Of course my Ottawa loyalty will forever override this, but it's nice to have someone to cheer for in the west.
The only reason I follow/support the Sens and 67s is because they're my hometown team. If not I'd probably be a bandwagoner and cheer for the Thrashers.

In Vancouver we have the...
Canucks: Sure.
BC Lions: Oh Yeah. Grey Cup 06.
Giants: I'll go to a game from time to time, but I don't really follow them. I'm pretty sure they're the best Junior team in North America, though.
When we had the Grizzlies, I was all over that. Now I don't really follow basketball at all.
I think we have a baseball team. Screw Baseball.

Well...for home town all we've got are
Kalamazoo Wings (IHL hockey)
Kalamazoo Kings (minor league baseball)
I don't really follow either of them. I go to the occasional game if I can get free tickets. I am however a rabid fanboy of U of M football.

Baltimore Orioles - Yes
Baltimore Ravens - Yes
Baltimore Blast - No, but I hear they're good.
Maryland Terrapins - Oh yes.
And since we don't have the NBA anymore I do support the Wizards, but if they were still the Bullets I'd love them much more. And I'm just a casual Caps fan.

I grew up in swindon, so I support them and follow all their games, I don't live there anymore, but when they played against chester I went to watch (we won 2-0 with 1 man sent off :D )
I follow the premiership too, and i guess i want liverpool to do well because all my friends support them and i dont have a prem team
but i am truly a swindon fan.
football (soccer  btw)
so overall i dont know... i support the team where i grew up, if i supported where i live now it would be chester, perhaps liverpool if you count only premiership teams. but there you go

I live in NY. I grew up in the Bronx.
I despise the Yankees because they are ruining professional sports, and I'm tired of them buying up all the washed up all stars.
I hate basketball because I can go to the schoolyards around the Bronx to watch thugs play ball without having to suffer through professional basketball. The Knicks are a horrid franchise, and suffer from the same plague that the Rangers used to suffer from as well. I am not much of a basketball fan to begin with though.
I am a Giants fan as far as football. Football is ok.
I seriously considered abandoning professional sports as a whole after the hockey lockout. I don't know what brought me back. Seeing the Rangers play kids is what did it. Their committment to building a franchise rather then buying all stars is what brought me back. Yet, Jagr and Shanahan, and they'll no doubt sign some more big names. Meh.
It's not easy being a NY sports fan with integrity.

I'm from and live in Indiana. I support the two teams of the sports I care for: Colts and Pacers. If we had an MLB team or an NHL team I'd probably support them too.
I used to be a huge Pacers fan a few years back when they were good, but after Reggie left and the team went down the drain, I don't really watch it that much anymore. Not just because of them, but because of how the NBA is rollin' these days. They've some how taken the thrill out of it. Highschool and NCAA basketball is SO much more exciting and whatnot.

Steelers: yes
Pirates: reluctantly yes, but our front office is the most idiotic group of people in the world
Penguins: obviously, although I admittedly don't have time to watch many games, so I haven't been following too closely this year
My favorite NBA team is the Cavs, since we get the odd Cavs broadcast on FSN Pittsburgh, but I really don't like basketball all that much. Penn State is my college team, but I won't follow college football until they get rid of the BCS and I don't really give a **** about other collegiate sports.

Interesting idea for a thread.
Australian Rules Football: Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide can go to **** for all I care. Crows have the worst fans ever and are the true one-team-town club. I really don't like them. And Port are the villans, being a Glenelg fan it is in my blood to hate them and that carries over to the AFL. (I reckon about zero people have any idea what I'm talking about here.) I support Melbourne in Australian Rules Football, in the national competition.
In Football, well this is the only area where I actually really support one of our local teams. Adelaide United. Great club.
The other sporting teams we have are just meh, but yeah I'm not against them. It's only Aussie Rules where I'm against our local teams I guess. I mean in cricket it's state versus state, so of course I go for South Australia, I mean what reasoning would there be to start supporting Western Australia?
It's funny how all the Seppos all have local teams because all the popular sports are domestic.
DBoon, nice to see ya mate, still telling it like it should be. :thumb:
