Ok I can't get the search function to work, and I really want to know; What kind of strings to you use on your bass. Also what gauge?

I use Boomers, cause thats all I have ever known, and in a small town like mine thats all I can find.

I think my Conklin is strung like .022-.130. I assume some sort of Conklin string.

Another good question would be how often do you change them?

I know some people change every month. And others change them like every decade.

I usually replace the whole set when one breaks, strings are expensive!

I use D'Addario's Nickel Wounds regular light gauge, which is .035-.130

Also, I change my strings whenever I become bored with them. That is my justification for changing them.

Currently i use D'addarios(came with the bass when i got it and they dont sound crap yet, im impressed..) think they are 45 - 65 - 85 - 105.

Though im soon to change to Optima Gold just to try them :p (have a pack in my "pile of strings".)

I usually change them when they die(can take all from a week to 5 months, had some La Bella Hardrockin Steel Strings lasting me 5 months or so) or i decide i absolutely dont like em, like with the Dean Markley blue steels, they went of my bass fairly quickly.

D'Addrio .45-130(??)

I've ordered a tapered set of some DR's, but they haven't arrived yet and my last pair of D'Arddrios are on my bass right now.

On my Ibanez 6 string, I've got some Elixir Polywebs that I've had on there for 20 months now.

On my Yamaha fretless, I've got some D'addario nicklewound strings, which have been there for a couple of months.

I've got whatever came on the Silvertone bass when I got it for Christmas about 3 years ago. I've only been playing for about 4-6 months now though. I might be buying some Elixers after Christmas though.

I tried them, but they felt weird  I stick with the Roto standard 45, 65, 80, 105.

Has anyone here used elixers? I was thinking about trying them, but I want some peoples opinions before I plop down a decent amount of money for them.

TI Jazz Flats, they only come in one gauge. They last 6 months or more if you wipe them off after practice.

I use DR or Ernie Ball Strings, though I'm going to buy a set of Elixirs to try them out.

I use D'Addario Nicklewound Lights on most of my basses except for my Ric, on which i use D'Addario Prosteel Lights.

I usually change strings every 3-4 months or whenever the need arises. I also tend to keep at least 3 full sets in reserve, preferably more.

I use DR Bootsy sigs. I'm going to have to try the D'addarios since they seem so popular.

For the GHS strings, I tried the Flea sigs and thought they had a great sound. I still have a set on the fretless.

I used the Elixirs that came with my Ibanez SR506 for about two days. I didn't like them because they were just too bright for my liking.

meh, i really don't know what strings i use.... i'm always trying different things...

lets see...

i've had D'Addario Prosteels on both my Geddy Lee Jazz and my G&L SB-2 (but currently only the SB-2 has them on)
i think i've got some Ernie Balls on my Geddy Lee now.
not sure whats on my acoustic bass, whatever the stock are.

i've currently got a set of elixers sitting out that i'm going to put on whatever bass needs them first.

You're crazy. My strings are so warm. I find my high end could stand to be a bit brighter. Granted, I don't remember what they sounded like when I first got them.

Bass - Rotosound Swing 66's (45-105) or GHS Lites.
Acoustic - Fenders 12 string set. not sure on the guages
Electric guitar - DR or Ernie Ball 10's

Bass get changed about every 6 months. Acoustic whenever I have the extra cash and they don't sound good. Electric get changed once a month.

Ben, your ears are giving out on you in your old age. You might as well just accept this fact and move on with life.

I use SIT's, basically a custom set that the guys at the local music store helped me get together with singles. It's....

.18 F
.28 C
.40 G
.60 D
.80 A
.105 E
.130 B

Low guage on the high end, high guage on the low end. It really is the way to go.

I have D'Addarios on my first bass, light gauge. I hate it.

I have La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels on my 5er and 6er, they're alright.

Finally, on my new 4-string, I have Elixirs which i've had many times before and I'm generally happy with them, but I'm getting heavy gauge Dr.Strings Black Beauties on them soon, because I used to have them on my 5 and they were awesome.

Double you tee eff?

I'm with you on that.

I use D'Addario chrome flatwounds on my Jazz, which I really like. You get a great woody tone out of them and they feel great under your fingers. On my stingray I have Boomers, 45-105, but they tend to break a lot, so I'm probably going to end up changing brands. When I first started using boomers consistently, I really liked the sound and feel I got from them, so naturally I used ONLY Boomers (which I am now beginning to think was a mistake) I used D'Addario nicklewounds once and I completely fell in love with them, and now I'm thinking about using those exclusively on the ray. The only thing that I don't like about the nicklewound d'addarios is that it takes a little longer to break them in than boomers, but thats no biggie.
