UPDATE:

Alright, I've got the chance to get a used Crybaby for $60, as opposed to the $100 of a new Morley (can't find it used). Is the Morley worth the extra $40, or should I go with the Crybaby?

QUick thread.

Which, in your experience is better?

Good price, want it as a christmas present.

i have the dunlop one and love it. i've played the morley as well, and both were quite similar, but the dunlop was cheaper and i prefered the asthetics and i really liked the variable Q-control.

I have had the cry baby bass for 7 years. it does the job for me and has held up really well.

i say the morley. I've got a dunlop actually.... its alright, i used it again the other day and i realized i havent been giving it the credit it deserves. I still prefer the morley though. just my personal opinion on it. i think it's got a wider variety of sounds :thumb:

I have the Dunlop. Been using it for years. It doesnt sound great to my ears.

However, I only use it with flanger, chorus, distortion, or Boss SYB-3. With another effect mixed in, I dig it.

I use the morley, in my opinion it has a better sound.

Alright, I guess I'm going with the Morley.

I want a wah, a flanger, and I've got a chorus on my Roland.

I like a delay, but I don't think I'll use it in a band context, besides adding a bit to use with one of the other effects.

I own the morley and have had the Dunlop, personally I like the Morley tone wise better.

i think if you had a delay, you would find a way to use it. also, delay (a very small amount) can help your tone alot (i think about 50ms is the popular delay setting to improve pickup tone).

Actually, after much thought, I think I'm not going to get the wah.

I've been expermenting with the RP80, and I found out I just basically just a TAD-overdriven flanger w/tad bit of delay. So, I can get the overdriven-tone out of my Roland, and I think I'm going to get the Flanger first, and then the delay (as the delay isn't really neccesary, just makes it sound a bit better).

Unless someone puts up a soundclip of an extremely nice bassline with a wah, I don't think I'm going to get motivated to get the wah.

Try out some guitar wahs with the bass too. The Morley Classic Wah is meant to sound good with bass (and its a shitload cheaper too)

I actually had the Morley Classic Wah, and sold it for around $20. Couldn't handle the low-end. I knew this, though. I just sold it because I never used it much.

I think I could actually get it back, though. My friend barely uses it either.

well, seeing as ive not tried the morley i dont know
but i was going to get a wah after xmas, and although having tried a crybaby and not been impressed at all by it, i was going to get it purely because it did the job, however this morley may be worth a shot :thumb:

EDIT: Oh, and I want a wah again because of NIN's "Closer" and various neat guitar solos :p.

Oooh baby, NIN 4thn of March next year!
Me pwn.

I personally much prefered the Dunlop over the Morley, though I was playing a Pedulla at the time and didn't pay much attention.

You know, I might just kill two birds in one stone and get the Ibanez Synth, which has an auto-wah.

Not the best in the world, but it gets the job done.
