I Finally got Pics for my Custom painted bass...
I am in a band called Pikkel Pharm Chronicles - http://myspace.com/pikkelpharmchronicles
and i bought a purple yamaha bass from a friend, hand sanded the Whole thing... and got my Talented Artsy Sister to paint it...
then I Clear Glossed it
And i found the coolest knobs at Radio Shack for $2 a peice!
The reason there is a "Secret Ice Cream Cone" on the back is cause my parents own an Ice Cream store called Dairy Queen... so it was an inside joke
Can't wait to see everyone else's

ok, thinking about resanding one of my guitars. how did you go about it and then what did you do over the paint? i am artsy too and want to put something cool on it.

i hand sanded the whole thing, but i totally regret it cause it was a MESS
get an small electric sander and sand the main color off... then get extra fine sand paper to smooth it...
Paint your pic
cover with High Gloss...

sweet deal. it was just that easy really? did you use water or oil soluable paint?

the paint is acrylic i think... the sanding was pretty hard cause it was all hand sanded (i really wish i had a sander) but the hardest part was the gloss... it you put too much on at one time it creates little droplets on the back of the bass, so assume u have to gloss for 3-5 days.
Day 1: front but not over the sides
Day 2: sides
Day 3: back
i would allow maybe even 1 day between each step so u don;t get finger prints in the gloss that still hasn't dried yet.
