So I'm trying to trade a bass... I have a Yamaha RBX260F (fretless) for a bass with frets. I might even sell it. I dunno, but I want a new bass with frets. Starting out with a fretless is a disaster and it doesn't really work right for me...
But I got offered an Ibanez SR800 for it. I looked up SR800s and they look like good basses. I know Ibanez is a good name too.
So should I do it?
BTW my band plays hard rock/metal...

Can you go try it out?? Thatd be your best bet.
I would probably do it. Just value wise the SR800 is higher than your yamaha for sure so unless its all crapped out you're not getting screwed over.

Yeah I'm a big fan of actually trying it out if you can, I know the ibanez should sound good, but you never know what your gonna get. No two basses are exactly alike!

Thats a big step up in terms of quality, but it really depends on if you like the Ibanez.

OK thanks... there is a small chip and the truss rod cover is missing.
Is a truss rod cover easy to find/required for playing/inexpensive?
What is a truss rod cover?

It is a little plastic piece on the headstock that covers the opening to the truss rod, it doesn't affect playability. You can replace it if you want, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh thats awesome. I can't believe this guy wants to do this.
The only thing that is bad on my part is the gas money I have to spend going there which is kind of far away.
