Or, if you don't like that, look down below for the list and the points each album scored.
In the case of a tie (of which there were a few) I checked which album had the highest ranking in any user's list, and that album was given the higher position in the results.

There are no Outkast albums on this list. List is null. **** you cunts.
Actually, all this turn out proved is that the jury is still out on a number of albums that haven't received the proper historical/critical chopblock that they deserve. And that there is an unspoken glut of of Queens of the Stone Age fans out there. I didn't think they'd do that well, but look at that.

The list is also lame because crap like Weezer and Opeth have high positions

Actually Pinkerton is the most baffling of the top 15, now that I look at it.
Haha, I can understand Rated R making the top 10, but Songs for The Deaf at #3? That's just plain silly.
To be honest I think the list turned out quite well, there are always bound to be a few weird ones. The lack of OutKast is kinda upsetting....
I think Pinkerton is a good record. Weezer's not the most indie band in the world, but that album had some good songs. "Across the Sea" is really good.

Cracked was the magazine stupid kids brought to elementary school. Me, I had old MAD issues from the 70's because I'm crazy hardcore. Kurtzman 4 lif.
Also, I'd probably concede that Endtroducing... is a more significant album than anything B&S ever put out, but I'd rather listen to Dog on Wheels EP over any four Shadow tracks ever committed to plastic.

this lists are completely useless in my opinion. Basically no one agrees with the list, so whats the point? People just argue and whine about how their ****ty favorite band isnt on the list. I guess its kind of cool to see what a groups opinion is, but at the same time, if everyone disagrees with it to some degree, its pretty useless. make your own top # lists.

this lists are completely useless in my opinion. Basically no one agrees with the list, so whats the point? People just argue and whine about how their ****ty favorite band isnt on the list. I guess its kind of cool to see what a groups opinion is, but at the same time, if everyone disagrees with it to some degree, its pretty useless. make your own top # lists.
We did. That's kind of how this list was constructed.

Whether people agree or disagree with the list is neither here nor there. The point is that this list is about as good a representation of the entire group's top 100 albums of the decade as you're likely to get with not too much effort.

i dont disagree, i just dont really like these types of lists because its stupid to compare artists that dont play similar music. Alternative/indie is so broad. If it was like, best indie electronica or something more specific it would make a little bit more sense, but how do you say that 1 band from one genre is better than another? not a big deal
mr_jackalope
11-16-2006, 06:38 PM
Thing is, it wasn't "top 100 A/I albums of 95-04", it was a list of your favorite albums, regardless of type, for that time period.
I'm glad we've gotten some hard-hitting commentary from androo in this thread. I was on the edge of my seat.

We're not comparing albums or saying one album is better than another. Each person who creates a list is nominating their personal favourite albums. Opinions, y'know? Nothing more, nothing less.

I listed Acrobatic Tenement and the Vayay EP on my list. I just prefer RoC. A lot. Dunno why, I just do. I don't really care what the members thought of it. ****, Cedric and Omar just released Amputechture which is a completely awful album. The Deftones are good for what they play but other then that they are nothing special.

Actually, all you successfully accomplished was further skewing a list based on whims by intimidating people into listening to something and immediately evaluating it.
I think you have a good point.
Another way of doing this could be to have everyone not posting their lists directly on the forum, but sending them to Little Man Being Erased.
Then when the results are presented, the nominees could be listed separately as well.
Just a thought, but I like it the way it works now.

The reason why everybody is bitchy and moany is because all you guys disagree with the opinions of the masses... that's why we're in alt/indie right?!
But all of the EXTREME indie kids are even disagreeing with their own group, even though its an opinion of a collective mass of mass opinion disagreement!
