Me and my dad are going to start building a guitar soon and I want to go for a heavy sound...i listen to a lot of technical death metal and things like that and my dad is set on putting an F hole in this guitar...if i put an f hole in this guitar with some heavy sounding humbuckers, will this affect the sound of the humbuckers a lot?

an f hole?

as in make it a semi hollow? i really woudn't reccomend a semihollow for metal, or anything using alot of gain, becuase it will feedback like crazy when you turn up the volume

Semi-hollowbodies are great for jazz and blues, styles that use lots of cleans and some light overdrive, but not good for metal. The feedback would be huge when there's alot of distortion.

Hollowed sections can be used to make the guitar lighter without affecting the sound too much. Check out Fender thinline teles, and I'm pretty sure there are some hollowed Les Pauls around too.

Do you just want the look of the F-hole?

My friend has a chambered Les, just can't think of the series. Just wanted to say that there are:thumb:

Maybe engrave* them a little, just a few MM, maybe a half a CM tops, then fill them in with paint?

*(can't think of a better word, its late, meh)
