Woah, what a coincidence. I'm listening to the Requiem soundtrack right now and was wondering if anyone else had heard it or wanted to hear it.

You should check the soundtrack out, its really good. Its by Clint Mansell, try searching for it on soulseek or something like that :D

Yeah, this is a great soundtrack. I love the use of the violin/cello/strings throughout it. I can upload it you'd like, hotpants_67. Just post your e-mail in this thread.

Also, if anyone knows of any similar sounding stuff to the string sections of the soundtrack, let me know about it so I can try and get my hands on it.

Yeah the soundtrack is the absolute ****.
Get it.

Maybe try other albums by the Composer/The Kronos String players?

Yeah, that was my first thought. Kronos Quartet have a crapload of stuff though, it seems.

On a side note, I was watching Pi the other week, which is also directed by Darren Aronofsky, and has Clint Mansell do the score. Parts of it are almost identical to what can be heard on the Requiem soundtrack.

I would like this soundtrack. Mind sending it my way, Greg? Txus.mx@gmail.com

BTW, the movie is soo damn good, Aronofsky is one of my favorite directors behind legendary Mr. Lynch :)

There is a remix of the Requiem for a Dream main theme by Paul Oakenfield floating around. I'm not sure if that one is on the soundtrack, but if not, be sure to check it out, it's really good. I would recommend other stuff by Paul Oakenfield for further listening then, since it lies pretty much in his usual style.

^ It's not on the soundtrack.

One of the trailers for LOTR - The Two Towers used a remixed version of Lux Aeterna, which is from this soundtrack, as the backing music.

Also, sent soundtrack to Txus.

Yes. I love both of those movies/soundtracks. I have the Requiem soundtrack but not Pi. Clint Mansell did the score for The Fountain , which I think is going to be released very soon.

I had an old cassette tape by the Kronos Quartet when I was younger. I wish I still had it, or could remember the title of the album. It had a really awesome version of Purple Haze.

I really want to see The Fountain. I've liked both movies he's released so far.

EDIT: referring to Aronofsky

How was Pi?
I loved RFAD.
I want to see it as well.. Pi.
and I want to read another book from the author who wrote RFAD.
The Brooklyn Book?
Like Return from Brooklyn or whatever.

As far as i remember the requiem for a dream soundtrack was quite minimalist but it has been a while

The Kronos Quartet are an extremely famous and versatile quartet who have played for many, many composers

i recommend their cd of the morton feldman piano+ string quartet, as well as another album called 'black angels'

Extremely imaginative players.
