So, it's been awhile since I watched this movie(saw it in theatres)....but it's on right now and I love it. I'd forgotten how good this is.
A lot of people find it boring though.
What do you all think of it?
I hope you aren't serious.

One of the better horror movies in recent years; no over-the-top deaths, quite funtional and more brutal because of it; no "movie-monster" (like The Hills Have Eyes) killer or elaborate scenarios played out.
The only thing I didn't like about it was when one of the victims stumbled upon a secret stash of the killer's. I liked it better thinking that a passing comment made by one of the victims was what set this guy off--just one wise-*** city folk too many.
Overall, it's a nice watch with nothing really new as it follows teens on a trip who later become hunted by a lunatic. But I think it played out what it had better than most horror releases recently. I think people rag on it because there's not a lot of deaths, not much gore, and, as I recall, no music to really get you in the mood either (still made it creepy to me, fit the environment well).

I actually liked the way they did that, and I think it was necessary. How would the killer have gotten the jump on them if it wasn't planned beforehand? He needed the drugged "rain water from the top end" to make it all happen.
Otherwise, I think thedeadwalk sums it up pretty nicely.
I found it kinda creepy, knowing that **** could actually legitimately happen. I don't get what was up with the watches or whatever stopping working when they visited that crater. What was up with that?

I keep thinking of Better Homes and Gardens when i see John Jarrett rofl.
One of the best slasher movies in a long long time. When you have a main cast of about 4 people, one of those is the killer, there's no fodder so everyone is expandable. But the great thing is you get more attatched to the characters because of this I think.
Easily one of my favourite horror movies from the last 5 or 10 years. Anyone who thinks otherwise clearly doesn't know a good slasher movie when they see one.

But that's the thing. What I would've preferred was that all of this was just coincidence. Their car happened to break down. The guy happened to come across them. A passing remark happened to set this guy off. To me, it makes him much more terrifying, and creates a possibility that this could happen anywhere, not just in the outback, but probably not as gruesome either.
The character coming across the stash does, however, show the killer's lunacy and why his methods are particularly brutal. So, I give it credit for that. I just would've liked this to have been his first time, is all.

But also, this is supposedly a true story and the story given to them by the guy that escaped...so I guess they had to somewhat go by that.
It's about as true as Hostel and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

It's very loosely based on a number of stories put together, I believe.
The whole Peter Falconio shindig is the only real thing I can think of though.
There's no dingo's eatin' babies in this flick!

If someone were to ask me what the worst movie I've ever seen is, I would honestly say Wolf Creek.
Watch An American Haunting.

hell no wikis a liar im dead serious
Wait, I saw a film review of it that said it was based on the backpacker murders (Someone from Sydney, refresh my mind, who was it? Ivan Milat or something?).
Dunno if there's any truth to the claim, but it's what I heard! :p
If someone were to ask me what the worst movie I've ever seen is, I would honestly say Wolf Creek. It was just completely unnecessary, and an utter waste of time. Some people were kidnapped, there were some torture scenes, two were killed, and one escaped. So what? It was realistic, but that just made it seem sadistic and voyeuristic to the point where it just wasn't fun to watch. Being paralyzed and tortured is not a pleasant thought, so why watch it in a movie which offers no redeeming value? I like the Saw movies, but that's because they have plots.
The point of Wolf Creek is the atmosphere. From the setting to the characters, it's so small that you genuinely believe it could happen. The thing is, slasher movies have been doing this for over 30, 40 years, and no one has cared. Movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, Halloween, they are all looked at as brilliant movies.
Wolf Creek was trying to bring back a dying genre made up of overdone sequels (Friday The 13th anyone?), and they did it beautifully well for me. It brought slasher movies to the 21st century and made it more exciting since you know at least one of the main characters will die. You are watching 2 girls trying to escape 1 man, so it's much harder to watch knowing no fodder cast members will die to let them escape.
And the irony of calling Wolf Creek sadistic and voyeuristic, and yet looking past Saw's extremely extravagent and violent traps is still making me laugh.
