View Full Version : Getting more rebound

Is there anyway to keep the low tone of loose headed toms while still getting the nice rebound of higher tensions? I love the tones of my toms, but the rebound is pathetic. Possible heads that tend to have a lower tone maybe?

Coated or 2 ply.
How low are you tuning the top head? Also keep in the mind the bottom head plays as much, if not more of a role in the pitch.
You'll also just need to work on your technique and playing. There's still a TON of rebound off even very 'dead' heads. And regaurdless of tuning, larger toms are just going to take more effort then smaller ones.

Both of my heads are at there lowest possible pitch. I would like to think that my technique is fairly good, but I might need to work on it, since we are still in marching season up here, so I have been playing a bass drum in band since July. I am playing coated ambassadors at the moment. Thinking coated Emps. next time, and I will tune up probably, I like both low and high toms, its the people who try to stay in the middle that bother me.

You'd probably have heard it before but practice on a pillow. Will make low tuned heads seem like... sex. >_>
<_<
That's the only word I could think of. >_>
