Generally, you should pan the drums the way they're set up in real life, as in on a right handed set, hihats panned to the left some more, ride to the right, snare center, etc.

The top-most item is left-most, bottom-most item right-most (this is on a "standard rock" set-up):
Left Extreme: Hi-hats
Crash
Hi tom
Centre Extreme: Snare
Mid tom
Second crash (if applicable)
Low tom
Right Extreme: Ride
Remember, even though they're extremes, they're still reasonably centred in the tracks.

Rules of Pan Club!
1. you do not talk about pan club.
2. Center the Hi hats , ride , snare and bass drum.
3. Pan the other drums in even numbers. Do not exceed a 80% pan
4. Pan crashes to whatever sounds good.
5. re pan any part of the kit to whatever sounds good/better

Yeah, use White's plan. On second thought that's better.

I'd pan the hats/ride about 20% right/left respectivly.
