Ok I just got a couple questions.. my mom likes a couple gay old shows that aren't on dvd but still are shown on tv, so anyway does tivo record without commercials? And can you hook it up to a dvd burner or a pc even to transfer what you've recorded?

My guess is it records with commercials since it probably records set times. As for transferring to PC, you probably can do that.

My uncle has tivo. Sorry to say but it does record commercials to. Pretty much tivo records what ever is on the screen.

Heres a cool trick for copying movies off On-Demand:

Tell tivo to record certain program at a certain time, now when tivo starts recording the program switch to On-Demand and whatever movie you want. Tivo will record the movie as (example) House but when you choose the recording of "House" it is actually the On-Demand movie.

you may just be better off getting a dvr from your satellite or cable provider
