So I just got back from Guitar Center. They had something I would never expect to see there: a used Conklin 7. $1000. I absolutely feel in love with the high F string. But it was pretty big. I could do it though. I was previously looking at a 6, but man do I love the high F. So my options are go back and get the Conklin (It won't be there long I'm sure), get a six tuned standard, or get a six and string it tenor. The problem with the last idea is I might want the B. I am so conflicted.
Opinions?

The other thing is that if I go for the Conklin, I'll try to talk it down. $1000 is too much for a bass that is $1300 new.

What 6er where you looking at?

If it really is a good deal I would say go for the Conklin, but do try to bargin them down a bit on the price.

I'm not quite sure on the sixer yet. I haven't found one that really screams "buy me".

The way I see it is that the Conklin while being a more specialised tool and not within the buying realm of most bassists, but will sell should you decide it is not for you.

I would say go for it, worst case scenario it is not your thing and you sell it, or box it up and come back to it at a later point.

I see no reason not to get it. You said yourself, you haven't found a 6 string that said 'buy me', but you instantly fell in love with this 7 string. Seems to me like you'll put all strings to good use so go for it:)

Definitely try and haggle them down some. I am sure that you could probably take it off their hands for less than 1000$. Definitely try and look for blemishes, wear, etc. just to bring the price down some.

I'm going in tomorrow, if it's still there it's mine. I'm pretty sure Guitar Center won't hold it for me, but I'll call in the morning to ask anyways.
*hopes no one else buys it*
