Alrighty so for my college course, we get individual lessons. My task for next lesson is to learn 3 country songs by ear and play them for my teacher. Thing is, I know nothing of country. So basically, I need some help finding a few country songs. The point of me learning them is to get back to basics. He says that in country, it's quite often the case that if you take the drums out, the bassist is so tight you barely even notice. That's what he's wanting me to focus on.
So aye, any country songs that are good examples of this would be extremely helpfull.

I don't know about all that, but check out Joe Diffie's "Pickup Man"... pretty cool bass...
Simpler, yet cool line I suppose... Martina McBride's "Independence Day"
Do you want new or older country?

Age doesn't matter in the slightest. Thanks, I'll look them up.

Country or country-rock?
Good country rock is impossible to find these days, but man will you find some good dixie rock basslines in the music of the Band.
