While people can give descriptions of the various feels and such of the different models.
It's simply personal preference, you'll need to find what you best enjoy playing on.
As a general note, the high majority of players prefer dual chain driven with an accelerated cam design.

I don't know man, but if you get the flexi-glide thingy, you could take off the kevlar strips and tape them to your chest incase you get in a firefight with some gangstas.
Something to consider.

My advice: Get Eliminators. Around the same price, more adjustability.

Get Gibraltrar Intruders. Cheaper , more adjustability

He didn't ask for opinions on other pedals, he had another thread for that. Just talk about ICs here. They're all great. Don't worry about wearing them out, seeing as how even the strap on the flexi glide is durable as hell, as Loser said. The flexis are the lightest/smoothest, the rolling are accelerators, and the power are just normal move-with-your-foot pedals. I don't know if I mixed up the Rolling Glides and the Power Glides, help me out here.

I really like the flexi glide....local music store was going out of business and they had them for $120 but they sold them all =[

Is there any sort of different feel to the flexi glide ones? Like right now i am using chain driven so will i get them and feel retarded or somethin?

There is a slightly different feel, but not so much that you won't adjust within a few hours.

Power glide will increase the beaters speed/attack. Kinda like a 1:2 ratio. Press down with 1 newton, it will hit the head with 2 newtons.
Of course, that's just a analogy
Rolling glide is a 1:1 ratio, so it'll stay the same speed all the way through
Flexi-glide is the strap driven. Very odd cam, and i don't know the ratio. But it's different to oter companys in the fact the strap is made out of kevlar instead of the usual nylon.
Out of all of those, i prefer the flexi glide, because it's light, but it's got the trademark IC feel to it.

Totally.
I have the strap cobra. It felt smoother than the chain, when I played around with them at the store. It also seemed like fewer moving parts-less to worry about and maintain in the long run,......but that wasn't my motivation for choosing it over the chain. I judged it totally by the feel of it and every other pedal in the store.

Pick which one you like
I liked the Powerglide. But maybe you will like a different one..

I'm in the same situation too. Since I'm thinking im going to get an Iron Cobra, so I think i'm just going to go to the music and try them out.

if you were getting the eliminators, you wouldnt have to worry about all this :p
Snarz

Why's that?
maniac0796
10-23-2006, 05:54 PM
because with an eliminator, you buy the one pedal, but you can put on different cams, and change between strap and chain.
Except the cams are plastic, and it's pearl

Oh yeah I've seen that..That is one good thing that would come from that pedal.I think im going to try them out and then go from there.

plastic cams never fail. also, the whole pedal isnt made out cast iron and weighs 234093483 lbs :p

Except that both the IC and the pearls are made out of cast steel. Nearly all bass drum pedals are made from cast steel.
Apart from the trick ones, and the axis, cos they're like, milled aluminium.

Its down to persoanl preference really, try em both and see which you prefer. I found the flexi glide more responsive so personally prefer that, but it is down to persoanl prefrence

Thats true...but you'd have to worry about the plastic cams breaking:thumb:

I really don't believe the Elims would be so higly rated and appreciated if the plastic cams would have a tendency to break

The exchanangable cam is a joke - once a pedal is dialed in, what more do you need to change?
Figure out what kind of cam you want to have before you buy the pedal.

Exactly. I'm torn between the DW 5000 Strap and the Iron Cobra(whichever one has the strap). they both feel great and are both the same price.
So i'd say get the strap one they're really smooth.

steel is iron + a bit of carbon, so he's pretty much right, especially in the weight aspect of it, which is what he was talking about.
maniac0796
10-26-2006, 04:20 PM
Yuh, but he's being a hippocrit by saying that. If they're both made out of cast steel, and they pretty much have the same dimentions, then they isn't gonna be a huge weight differerence. If anything, the eliminator will weigh more because it has more ribbing underneath, it has a bunch of pointless features, and it has that huge block of movable steel called a heelplate.

I honestly don't think the weight of the pedal is as important as many people make it out to be.

It's not the fact he said that he was saying weight was important, it was the fact he was saying that the Ic's weigh alot compared to the Elims, and i'd thought i'd do the right thing and correct him.

If by "retarded" you mean "correct, steel is an alloy of iron and 0.02% to 1.17% carbon"

Iron is also an element. Elements make things, and the elements carbon and iron make the material steel.

Kind of, but the Iron and Carbon don't chemically bond, as far as I know.
HeLLmO
10-29-2006, 07:45 AM
i think your right, because iron is a metal, and i think carbon is a gas, and if i remember my chemistry correctly(which i might not) something has to bond them, they can't bond themselves

Carbon is solid.
To make steel, you mix coke which is a form of coal (the carbon part) limestone, and iron.
The whole point in the coke is it burns well and it gets rid of any impurities in the iron.
So the steel actually has no carbon in it, the carbon was just used to make it better and purer.

lmao, i died.
yeah and things don't have to bond together to be together, it could just be a physical mixture of the two solids carbon and iron.

i always thought carbon was a gas, because you get carbonation in like soda and **** and it makes the bubbles and junk.
but that's the CO2 isn't it?

Yes, that's carbon dioxide, not carbon.

Worst argument ever.
The exchangable cams on the Eliminators are really a nice thing to have. It sounds stupid and pointless, but if you try it, it makes a big difference. The plastic cams are not an issue. I wouldn't imagine that it would ever break. I honestly can't think of one thing that the Iron Cobras have that the Eliminators don't have... I strongly advise the threadstarter to test both out at a store before buying one.
