Most of well be the first to say it...
Go test them yourself, if at all possibly.

I cant, none of the drum stores carry the classics. there all special order, and you have to buy them if you order them even if you dont like them. Thats why im being picky.

hmm...:/
Anywhere you can travel to that does stock them?
(Within a few hours drive maybe? It'll be worth it)

Where I live, gas is $3.15 a gallon. There are no road trips in my future. Could somone please be nie and help?

Yeah, Guitar Center apparently will only special order stuff that they don't regularly have on stock. I really dislike that, 'cause I don't always like what they have. I truly wouldn't mind having to try out 100's of cymbals, but where I live, that's not an option.
And unfortunately, I can't help you for I know nothing about Meinl.
Just thought I'd sympathize, ha.

Listen to Thomas Lang, that may give you at least a bit of an opportunity to listen to some kind of Meinls

If you've never heard the cymbal then why are you buying it?

Not many people here use Meinl, man. Thats why your not getting the responses you want.

Maybe go to Meinl's website and see what they have to say on the matter?
You could even email them, if you want a (completely unbiased :\) opinion.
-And i don't think any of us have been 'mean', maybe largely useless, but hardly mean:P

Just tell me, how much better are they than solar cymbals?(sabian)
Drum Phil
10-24-2006, 08:35 PM
Anything is better than solars (bar maybe Planet Zs)
AFAIK classics are a pro line so they will be good, however im not sure they're too bright.

A whole freaken lot better

They are my current ones, and why im upgrading. Does anyone know how much longer the sustain is, and how bright they are compaired th them?
Drum Phil
10-24-2006, 08:45 PM
Considering they're higer quality the sustain'll be a lot longer. They sound fairly bright in comparison to something like the byzances.
However (judging by sound clips) they sound somewhere between sabians XS20 and Pro Sonix.

They are good cymbals. If you are worried about brightness get the thin or medium thin models
Zildjian_man
10-24-2006, 08:47 PM
Good, that sounds great, thanks!
So I guess the power ones wont be to bright?
Drum Phil
10-24-2006, 08:48 PM
I was comparing the thin models by the way.
Zildjian_man

How much easier would the thin models break compared to the power ones? I want these to last a good while.
White Riot!
10-24-2006, 08:54 PM
the power ones need to be struck harder to get a good response. Based on that I'd go for the mediums or thins or medium thins
Drum Phil

Medium thin is the perfect halfway between volume and amount of power needed to get that volume.
I happily use thin models though.
Thinner cymbals have more give in them and are less likely to crack. That doesnt mean you can beat the crap out of them though.

I use paper thins and they haven't even shown signs of cracking, although I don't beat them nor do I play through them. If you have a GC, I think their policy is that you can keep it for 30 days and return them, so special order them, pick them up, play them, if you hate them, you should be able to tell within 30 days, and then return them, or vice versa, you might love them, so keep 'em. I love thin cymbals, what kind ya play phil?
Drum Phil

The thinnest in my setup is a K Custom Fast crash. Soon to be joined my an A Custom and hopefully a 20" Paiste 2002 thin crash.

I have a paper thin istanbul 8" splash, and that thing bends, but it's not gonna crack.
It's alot more flexible.
It's comparing those crazy flexi rimmed glasses to some emo fag box plastic ones.
The plastic ones represent a thick cymbal, the flexi ones represent a thin cymbal
The plastic ones look thicker so you think they have less chance of breakage, but then they will snap in 2 easily
The flexi ones look thin and weak, but they bend instead of snapping
