Boss digital recorder help

Hey guys. I just purchased a Boss digital recorder and a condenser mic in order to finally be able to record of a decent quality. The only problem is when I directly input guitar and bass to the recorder the sound quality is really bad and I get a lot of fuzz. Does anyone know how I can stop this. I don't run it through an amp, just an effects pedal and I'm not sure what to do.

Take the effects pedal out of the chain and see what happens. Often that sort of noise is caused by a lousy power supply, or the even the pedal itself.

check you havent got any effects on the boss recorder, i used to use one of these alot and they seem to automatically put some effects on and they sometimes have guitar distortion so it may be that.
