new album hasnt really been discussed when it probably should of been.
one of the best modern pop punk bands. their influence upon the genre is often understated whern they have been nearly as influencial as blink, green day and the offspring.
coming home is a great record, especially for its not your fault and hold my hand. although it doesnt reach the heights of the s/t few albums in this genre have. its certainly better than catalyst was which was in my opinion a severe let down.
there touring at the moment with cartel and early november and the uk tour is with anberlin and hit the lights as well as the early november.
So discuss....

I don't like the new album. I think it strays too far from their not so long ago roots and the pay off is minimal. I don't hear a pop punk band any more, I hear a commercially oriented, watered down, playing to the MTV crowd, mainstream band that is trying to play both sides musically by raping their PP roots and coming up short all around. Weak songs, awful lyrics, mushy crap. And with music to match. Meh...I suppose their is no going back for them now. But this doesn't even sound like the same band that was 3 or 4 years ago. Not a trace. Shame...

there lyrics were always horibble to be fair.
i know what you mean but there a little far down their careers to be selling out now. they werer always popular with hit or miss, my friends over you etc..
and it was more like 6/7 years ago when they were at their pop punk peak.

Well hopefully they go somewhere with this, then. Like I said, no going back. I just wish they could of grown up a little and kept their edge, for what its worth. The new album to my ears shows little promise as to where it points next. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Something a little tougher would be nice.

I like the new album. It's probably their worst, but I still enjoy it.
I just saw them a couple weeks ago, and they were amazing.

I'm gonna buy it. But only because Ian is sexy.
I can't say I love it. Musically they've grown a lot, and Jordan has managed to control his voice a lot better on this album. But it just feels really bland. Like they've experimented a lot with their mature sound, and strayed too far from their original sound, and now they feel like a completely different band. And not really that good of a band either.
I'll have to listen to it more, since there has been a lot of other albums released that are better that I've been listening to, but I wasn't that impressed when I listened to it the first time.

I haven't heard the new one yet, but I'm going to go see them. I really love Cartel, so that's part of the reason i'm going. For Cartel Fans, I found some cool online stuff.

As for the new NFG, i didn't have high hopes for it, I thought everything since "Sticks and Stones" kind of sucked. They're still good live though.

Haven't heard it.
I heard one song and I didn't like the direction they were going in, but I'll check this out anyway.

I actually just saw them a few hours ago with The Early November and Cartel. I haven't really listened to the new stuff, I don't really like what I've heard that well though. They are pretty much amazing live though.

Its sad to see a band with their talent water down their music and start wearing country club attire regularly.

Well they get it for free/can afford it,and their music has always been watered down. Who gives a **** what they wear anyway. Atleast Jordan isn't trying to look "hardcore" anymore.

Woah, they had talent?

Yeah man. It takes alot of talent to write songs based round powerchords, add some simple drums, write a root note bass line, write some cheesy lyrics then get Jordans nose to sing them.

Yeah I was dissapointed with the new album, very bland. I am seeing them in December though purely cos I love their pre-Catalyst stuff. I know a few people in here said they saw them recently so what is their set like? Do they play much old material?

Don't like the new album at all. I like some of the old stuff, but I don't see why so many people pop a chub over these guys.
Haven't heard the new album(s?), but Sticks and Stones was fantastic. And the one before that with My Friend's Over You and Hit Or Miss. Was it called Hit Or Miss?
But yeah.
Great band, my favourite pop-punk band after blink, quite possibly.

My Friends Over You is on Sticks and Stones. Hit or Miss was on Nothing Gold Can Stay aswell as the Self Titled.

I listen to all NFG stuff up until and including the self titled. I love that stuff.
The other stuff...not so much.
Nothing Gold Can Stay is one of my favorite albums.

The vocals can be annoying on nothing gold can stay IMO. S/T is my favourite. I still haven't heard the new one, can someone upload it for the upload?

I think those vocals are his least whiny, personally. I dig 'em.

This is a good vocal album. Main reason why I keep it on rotation.
