That's a link to my band's concert video. Now in the drum section I posted this so I could get feedback about my drumming, but they suggested that the singer was, well, awful.

Is this right? I wanna hear it from singers etc. and also, if it's not too bad, can it be fixed - i.e. can he just practice more. Or does he have no talent. I like him + think he's good but, that's my, biased, opinion.

Thanks all.

He's got a hallow offkey voice that was never on correct pitch with your songs. Of course, that probably matches the generic music you were playing quite well, so I say keep him, as to keep the terrible music being produced contained to one band.

That's a bit harsh. I guess its not your type of music then? I don't think its horrible music at all. Much better than some that I have heard.

p.s. just realised this is in jam session, instead of the singing/lyrics bit..

It would probably be easier to work with him and develop his voice rather than search for a new singer. He has a pretty decent voice, but yeah it didn't really fit with the music that well. It wasn't horrible, though.

Unless he's like a total dick, just work with him.

What type of music do you think it would work better with? Slower Im guessing?

It doesn't have anything to do with types of music. What I meant is it sounded like he was overdoing it sometimes. Maybe he just needs practice more outside of rehersal, and get a coach.

I think it sounded fine. Like a typical local pop-punk band that has started out. You guys will get better.

ughhh, he had awful tone, and wasnt on pitch.

Tell him to get a teacher or something.

I wouldnt kick him out unless people start hating your band completely, just work with him to get better.

Definately not my type of music but I am capable of giving my unbiased opinion.

First of you guys are very young and his voice is certainly not yet totally developed which means his voice will change. Whether or not that is a good thing, only time will tell. But as far as singing goes I think he has potential. He just needs to learn how to get in tune and stay in tune. His developing voice is going to be a factor in the difficulty level. The music is definately not my cup of tea but it's what you like and that is fine. I would say the rest of the music sounded fine considering your age and you seem like a good drummer as well and I see a promising future for you drumming.
Anyway, I say keep the singer and get him some lessons. Don't do anymore shows untill he is ready. You don't want to be known as the band with a bad singer.

From what people in both threads have said have lead me to believe that the guitarist and the singer are in some ways, slowing me down and holding me back...

edit: Not many people like this music lol!

Holding you back? I haven't read the other thread. But I would say the only thing really "holding you back" right now is your age. I say, just have fun playing music and progress and get better, you are YOUNG still. In a few years if you are still even jamming in the same band (which is sort of rare considering all the issues that young bands run into) and they are still holding you back then move on. But untill then I think that you should just try to get better as an individual no matter where your band mates are as far as their talent goes.

well i'ma gonna copy and paste what i said in the other thread:
"Today our singer told us that he was quitting the band...

He doesn't think he's good enough (because of problems with other people that he's had) and that he doesn't have time, what with football and acting so... We need a new singer. And we don't know of anyone, and trust me, we're thinking hard but have no ideas."

So no worries about the singer anymore, problem is, there isn't one...

I've heard way worse many times.

Tell him to read the voicehelp hotline....and keep practicing... acapella practicing will be a great help. A little can go a long way.

Tell the singer to bring his *** back and quit being a baby in the face of turmoil. lol. He can get better.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about booting your singer. You guys are pretty young, and while you're in school, the best possible thing you can do is just enjoy playing music. Vocal ability comes with time and practice, and while you're not worried about putting food on the table, just worry about that.

There comes a time in every band's career when they go from being a garage band that practices once a week and gets drunk at rehursal to being a touring band that practices twice a week, gigs three times a week, practices indivudually for 3 hours every day and gets drunk in between.

Once you hit that, it's hard to know how to have fun, so it's best to learn fun when you're not worried about cash.

To be honest, you guys aren't that bad at all. I've been listening to a few of the tracks. The singer isn't that bad after the first song. Your music isn't the most original, but originality comes in time and by listening to other forms of music.

But your back up singer is terrible.

Well now that you cant find one, whoever sings best thats currently in your band, have them sing,
