i wasnt sure whether to put this in the drum section or in here, so mods move it there if you want.
ok so, my drum teacher wants me to bring in a cd with some double bass, not a lot, not a little, a moderate amount. im in to bands like, senses fail, thrice, saosin, from first to last, and escape the fate. stuff like that. so basically, im asking what are some bands/albums i would like with a moderate amount of double bass in it?

Why would you put it in the punk section? ...Iron Maiden has a lot of double bass, although the drummer only uses one pedal to make that sound.

What style are you looking at? Post-Hardcore/Hardcore type stuff?

A fair amount actually, he uses it a lot when he doesn't need to just to make the strokes cleaner when you could heel-toe or slide the doubles he plays.

ok, and glassjaw sounds okay, but dystopia has too much screaming for me.

Shut up, Career Suicide is one of the best bands of all time and they're new. You can't assume he meant **** from TV.
NOFX uses a lot of DB it seems like. A lot of fast punk does.

This statement is false. Most punk drummers do not use a double bass when theyre doing a fast punk beat. Thats just practice and talent.

Yeah I know, I hate how all the new music right now is so emo. I mean, I had Lawrence Arm's new album and they had a guest appearance by Bert McCracken, and then I was listening to Young Dro and the breakdowns were sooooo long!

I was judging using the scene from around here. A lot of the guys use double bass when they get going really fast.
No self respecting punk uses double bass.

What would using double bass matter? or are you being sarcastic?

No self respecting punk uses double bass.
Shh.
It's just difficult.
A lot of people assume a band is using double bass because the percussionist is hitting his bass really fast.
It's hard to get a clear sound of double bass when the tempo is so fast.
That's why DRI is so good with it.
It's quick but you can clearly hear it.
But really, I'd rather hear a stand up bass then a double bass.
All though it's 2 different instruments.
