hey guys, I was wondering if you could recommend any good funk drumming books, I've been playing for a little over two years and am focusing on the funk right now, also I've always been into hip hop and I know how well some of the big name hip hop drummers can groove so if you could also recommend any hip hop books as well that'd be killer, thanks!

Take It To The Street - Stanton Moore
I am unaware of which big hip hop drummers you are talking about...
I am aware of two.
A book on hip hop?
Honostly.
Not trying to be an ***.

I had a strange expression after reading your post. Somewhat of a scoff/leer hybrid.

Hmm...
So.
I'm at a pub, and than I order a salt-tequila-lemon ... drink.
So when it comes, I make the face that I made when I read my (Lime's) post.
Makes sence now.

I think you misunderstand the drink, its a method of taking shots. First you lick a lil' salt, then you throw down the tequila, then you chase it by means of biting into a lemon.
Anyhow, my expression was more akin to the aftermath of a stubbed toe, rammed into the desk leg of... ignorance.

Dave Garibaldi is bringing out a new book soon, or it has just been released. I think its called The Code of Funk, do you know who he is? And yeah, there isnt realy any books on hip hop to my knowledge, kinda a grrove thing, just play with some musicians and keep it simple and groovy with hip hop, or play along to some RH Factor, The Roots or D'Angelo recordings and for funk, some Tower of Power, Parliament Funkadelic, The Meters, Sl and The Family Stone or George Clinton.

I love how less-than-amazing threads keep getting turned into chatrooms around here.
I think that's what's pissing Damo off guys.
Advanced funk studies in where it's at.
If you want something easier: Mel Bay's funk drumming is okay. It's not the greatest book, but it's easy if you're just starting and there are some important things to learn in it. The picture on the front of the book is hilarious though.

He was talking to me.
And we're helping the man.
I was just pointing out how weird it was.
That he said Hip Hop Drummers.
Which don't exist.
And Hip Hop Drumming Books.
I don't know if anybody else got it
