so today i was playing double bass, and the beater for my 1st pedal randomly fell off, and i tried everything to get it to stay on. i put it back in but it comes out after i hit it 3 times or so. so i got my wrench and tried screwing stuff around both the pedals and everything, but nothing will make it stay in. i have no idea how this happened and i dont know how to get it to stay in. major help needed.

put duct tape around the base of the shaft of the beater so its in there more securely, and from the sounds of it, buy a new pedal.

No, but my drum teacher might teach me in a few weeks.
Well, i tried to screw everything in with the wrench it came with but it didnt really help.

i tried looking for places i could put tape, but i couldnt really find i good place that would help. but i might just mess around and try to put tape somewhere and see if it helps.

you should really look into buying a new pedal, if it basically "snaps" off
its gonna fall out again once you put it back together

Don't the yammies have a problem with the beater screws threading or was that something else?

You will need a screwdriver to fix this problem.

If the beater hasn't snapped, it should be just a simple case of unscrewing the screw. placing the drum beater in... And tightening it back up.... Make sure the drum beater comes out the bottom like in the picture... It may be you have the screw tightened and the beater is merely going partially in due to the screw being in the way...

If you can't fix it still, take it into a music store... Just say what the problem is, and ask them if they think its repairable and if so how much.... I recently bought a double bass pedal myself, and upon selling my old single bass pedal on e-bay, I broke it when I came in drunk one night... I took it down to the music store, £4.50 it cost to repair... Thats nothing in comparison to buying an entire new pedal....

I feel for ya buddy. My beater slipped out live AND towards the climax of our finest and most locally popular number. My guitarist was pissed off but not as pissed off as I was with my cheap and disgusting pedal, I just had to stop and set about fixing it. Now I want a Flying Dragon.

Direct drives come with a little memory lock which will hold the beater in the right place and you can just duct tape the underside of the beater shaft to the cam to hold it in place.

I really can't see how you broke a flying dragon though...

I sense some technique issues. Ive had my Flying dragon direct drives for 2years and ive not had any problems AT ALL.

New pedal!!!! cough*9000*coguh*

i tried a 9000 at PM yesterday, and i wasn't impressed at all. It didn't seem as nice as an IC or a premier 6000.... Bit of a waste of money to be honest.

alright, the little screw below the beater came loose, so i screwed it in and it works fine now.

I`ve been owner of 9310 for 3 years and i`ve never got the same problem but strange thing, when i gave my yamahas to try to a freind of mine (he`s an awesome drummer btw, not a rookie) the beater could fell off in the middle of the concert. We could check the screws, got everything perfect but it could still randomly fell. Now we both have Pearls 2002, so it`s a way to solve the problem :)
