Ordinarily I'm not a big fan of single-cuts. They're blocky and bulky... but partly through the cutaway handle thingummy and throught the rest of the shape, this one does have a certain elegance to it.

Now just don't go and throw that away with a spalted finish. :thumb:

Dark-grained natural finish, that's what you need, with black hardware.

Take out that 'handle' and you have a winner.

I love singlecuts, but I hate those handles.

My idea body top would be flamed koa... that might not be very likely though.

Haha, I think that's one of the few reasons the shape has me drawn to it. It's cool though.

Thank you. :D

i like it, but the bottom part looks a little too "pointy" or something.

other than that. i dig it.

I don't like single cuts. The handle thing makes it a little better, but I still wouldn't want something like that because it's a single cut, which I just don't like. Not enough good to get rid of the bad.

Flamed koa would make everything right in the world. Even that hole. <_<

Maybe.

I like it, other than the protruding point at the bottom.
I've always wanted a handle on my bass, i tend to grab that area when I carry my bass around anyhow.

As for the point I'm sure it'd be a bit rounded in carving, but I like it being the only sharp part of the bass in contrast.

If the koa doesn't work out, I think I want something like Curly Redwood Burl. >.>

Not your fault, I hate all single cuts

I like the idea of it being a double cut away but with the upper horn attatched as an integral part.

From what I understand here: http://nordstrandpickups.com/bass_sig.html, you buy them to be wired either way.

I feel the same way.

I hate Bernavennete (or w/e its spelled, stupid weird name) designs seem totally... egh. They MAY play royalli, but those things are DAMN ugly.

Even Les Paul basses seem ****ty as single cuts, but Les Paul guitars look totally awesome.

I just saw that webpage. And I know this Jaco lover is the owner of it...

But who puts a video clip trying to sell a bass... full of effects? IMO, if they want people to look how the bass sounds, it has to bee with as little Amp EQ possible, no effects, to show-off the "natural" sound of it.

Ahh. What's your price range here? Personally, if I were in your shoes, I'd be looking at Chris Stambaugh's stuff. He builds amazing instruments for a really reasonable price when you consider they're custom.

I know that when I can scrape up $2000, he'll be getting it.

this is better than most i've seen, but i'm not a fan of the body going up so far on the neck. like i said, though, this one is better than most.

Probably a little over a 1,000. Need to figure out how much this is going to cost me. Right now it's kind of depending on the tops woods I can find.

Actually, now I think of it, looks allot like a JP (not our lovely Winters, the french dude who just stopped) Plume. Which are awesome.

Please get it made with a Flame Koa top, it was exactly how I imagined it to be!

I chose the "i hate all single cutaways" option, although, for a single one, thats pretty damn sexy.
Incidentally, will that be a carrying handle then?

There are singlecuts that I like, and then there are singlecuts that I think are butt ugly. It really just depends, but yours looks like it has the possibility to turn out rather nice.

single cuts IMO are some of the sexiest basses out there. i would love one, if i could afford one. most single cuts seem to be made by boutique companies.

I am honored that Tryxx chose me to build his bass. I will hopefully be able to get started on it in the next couple weeks.

Well it is nice to see that atleast one luthier on MX knows how to kickstart their business. Good going with getting your own domain.

Seriously, it was something like $8 a year. Not much to fork out to make a huge impression.

Yes! Now... I just need to find a top wood and decide on a few things.

I need to find out the distance I want the cut up on the neck, but I haven't tried putting the drawing to scale yet. String spacing will probably be pretty standard for a four string (though now I'm considering a tenor five...).

I just host the site on my computer, that way I don't have to pay any fees for hosting. That might be why it is cheaper than yours too.

Yeah the top wood will be the hardest part to find for sure, but that is the piece that makes the bass. So take your time and get exactly what you want. From what I have seen, the upper cut goes between the 11th and 12th frets. Just so it will balance better with the straplock there.

Hmm won't that mean that your site will die if you get more than a few visitors at once? I think you would be best to get it hosted somewhere other than your home computer.

I haven't had a problem with that before. I just have to always have my hard drive on, no sleeping. If it becomes a problem I will obviously pay the extra money and have it hosted somewhere. But for now, this works.
