I MUST HAVE MISSED THE KICK OFF!
Discuss old school bands that aren't necessarily hardcore nor emo that you've been listening to a lot.
Blink 182 is amazing. I've always loved 'em but haven't listened in a while. Sucks they broke up. Stupid Tom. Angels and Airwaves (Angels in Airwaves?) sucks and he's a stuck up control freak. :(
I haven't heard Plus44 yet. Any good?

I've never liked Blink 182, I could never get into them, even when I tried. I can't stand Tom's nasal-ish voice when he's singing, it's so irritating. LEARN TO GROWL, TOM!

Jimmy Eat World, my first introduction to them was the song Bleed American and it was really awesome. Still love it and the band.
by far the best band mentioned in this thread, in my opinion. that cd is awesome, i was just listening to it again the other day. i love the part in "get it faster" where the two guitars alternate on that rhythm, its simple, but so good.

I've been listening to a lot of bands lately, yeah Trivium (I know they are metal) and I like Cute Is What We Aim For. I downloaded the album out curiousity and I actually liked it :amaze:
Erm, I love Blink 182 and have downloaded loads of their earlier stuff like from Cheshire Cat and I own 4 of their albums on CD (Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, blink-182, Greatest Hits and Mark, Tom And Travis Show)
I like Plus44, especially No It Isn't.
I've also done myself good... I got into Metallica :cool:

I like how I get nostalgic about the first wave of Swedish punk (the '78-'82 stuff), instead of lame stuff like blink-182. My childhood music is still great. Ask me for tips on great Swedish early 80's punk.

I'm surprised they built up such a huge fan base when pretty much all of their songs are just a basic 3 or 4 chord progression. When you compare their fan base to a band like A Wilhelm Scream's, a band with serious musical talent, it really does boggle the mind.

I agreed that aWS are better than Blink-182, but they aren't the same genre, so I mentioned The Vandals - a better band in the same genre. I quoted your post as well, because it answered yours as well - where you might argue that aWS doesn't write "catchy pop-punk tunes that almost anyone can enjoy", I say The Vandals do. Note that the answer to your post and the answer to TakeWarning's post is the same sentence.
