Daily Upload - October

[Chilly-Bean-Bop]

If you're new to the mailing list concept, here's how it works:
Every day or so an email will be sent out to everyone on the list. Our goal is to include 5 albums per day. In the email will be links to albums that have been uploaded by you, your fellow MXers, and myself. We will all have the benefit of hearing bands we might never have been exposed to. In addition you may find that album you've been searching for forever or find something you'd been meaning to check out.

If you would like to be on the mailing list, post your email address and then contribute to the discussion as you receive the emails. Posting ONLY your e-mail address without leaving a comment will NOT be tolerated. It's not hard to say "Thank you" or something else along those lines, but do NOT just put down your e-mail address, or you may be passed over.

This is a forum after all, so please post comments and discuss the music that you have downloaded. If you never post in the thread I may remove you from the list. DO NOT come in the thread complaining that you aren't getting the emails anymore if you've been sent links for all these albums and haven't bothered to post anything!

Yousendit has the best download speeds but the links expire after 100 downloads.

If you upload something for the mailing list, it would be helpful if you'd please include a description of what you've uploaded as well as the links. Reviews and links to band websites are great to go with an album. Please at least try to include the genre!

Some of the uploads may be in .rar format. To unzip these, download the RAR client, which can be found here (http://www.rarlab.com/).

I'd prefer to send out a daily edition, except on weekends, where I'll just send out a weekend edition on Sunday night, as I'm never usually here on weekends.

There is, but it's gone over two lines for some reason. Just copy/paste both lines (including the Johnson Movie Proj Backup bit) in order into your browser and it should work.

I named the file differently because I am also sharing that link with another forum and they like the links to be more discreet so they don't get removed as quickly.

It's local stuff from my hometown, but it's got great production and I believe the album uploaded is their eighth release. They have been around for over ten years now, and are a great band - buy it if you enjoy (and can find it)

Hate to rant, but I should state my opinion...

London Calling built the foundation and set the bar for so many of today's punk bands (and pretty well every band around today). It is also one of my all time favourite albums and I do in fact own it.
The problem is that not many people really appreciate it, or even give it a listen for that matter which is a shame as it is an essential piece of music for every generation. They pass it off like it's garbage because it doesn't have the standardized expensive production or recording of much of today's music, because it doesn't have 'core' next to the genre, or because 'punk is dead'.
My point is, it needs to be heard by everyone no matter how they listen to it - plus, Joe would want to be getting his message across any way he can, not rake in money from corporate sales.

I guess I can be quite now, wouldn't want to rant up the forum too much.

I'm basically never finding things in the uploads. Other than what I ask for, everything seems to be crap that I download. :(

I think the url to the artist's myspace or homepage should be included in the mail, so if one has never heard the band, it would be possible to check out easily before downloading an entire .rar file.

When I uploaded the in flames and such, I wrote a short info and the myspace's of the artists. Somehow the info was removed when I got the mail...

Also, it should be mentioned if an album is in low quality (like, the Senses Fail one was in 96 kbit/s). I really hate listening to low quality music. 192+ kbit/s FTW.
