I've been around bass shopping, mostly trying to find a bass that fits pretty well and so far I've come to find 2 that I like. And by like, I mean considered as worth keeping for years of use. The Musicman Stingray ( 1700 bucks haha!!!! can't get it -.- but that beautiful bass...someday...someday. I loved that thing) but the other was an underdog. It was a Schecter Stilleto Elite 4. If felt good, played well, almost a guitar kinda neck. It's slim, but it's better that way actually. Anyways, I was looking at other Schecters online and came across the Diamond Series CV-4, and I gotta say, I fell in love with how it looks. I haven't had a chance to play it however because the three different stores near me don't have it.
So, I have the option to put some money down on it getting shipped from Tennessee to here so I can just play it. If I like it, I'd buy it. But before I do that, I want to ask to any CV4 owners, are you content with your bass? Would you take it gigging with you? ( I hear that the bridge is a lil hectic and overcomplicated).
Or should I just stick with the Stilleto 4 and get that?

Í prefer them to Stiletto Schecters. Can't stand their neck.

Lol that's what a lot of reviews say. But I dunno, I kinda have small-ish hands ( Like the goomba from Mario Bros movie) and the neck felt good to me. For once I didn't get that ache I get with my Squier.

I know that someone on these forums owns one, and he loves it as far as I know. He also uses it for gigs, etc.
I think his username is groundzero?
Look under the Reviews section.

I don't remember what it was, but I couldn't stand any of the Schecter Stilleto's necks. Not the Elite, not the Custom, not the Studio (if I've played a Studio).
The C-4 felt real nice, and, to me, sounded just as good.

Hmm. I also tend to stick to a more low tone. In fact, I haven't pulled my Squier outta dropped D since I restrung it. Mostly I play Tool music and some Audioslave. I don't really do slap and pop however I feel that along the way, eventually I'm going to pick up on it. I wouldn't really know what tone to look for, but this bass sounded damn good when I played Disposition on it. Didn't sound too whiney, and the low end sounded great.
Albeit this was on a VERY nice 1200 watt speaker plugged in through some really really fancy amp ( didn't even look at the model) so I was having a ball with it.
When 10,000 bucks fall into my lap I'll get that kinda gear, and a Wal Mach II.
BTW what Groundzero reviewed was the C-5, similar to the C-4, which is "similar" to the CV-4 however...it isn't.

I dont personally own one, played one for a few minutes acoustic and couldnt stand the neck. Id personally go for the Elite.

Oh, my bad. I couldn't remember if it was just a C or a CV. He hasn't posted here in a bit and I didn't bother looking, so yeah.
Have you looked around at TalkBass or Harmony Central?
Good luck, though!

Yea I checked both out. Both said basically "go for it"
My only restraint really is that if I do order it in from Guitar Center, I have to pay down 10%, and I don't really want to do that because, I just might not like it, ya know?
I mean so far the neck of the Stiletto hasn't bothered me, but I play when standing up or on a stool so I get a really good position with this bass in particular. I also got the honor to play this sucker on just this beastly amp and speaker setup. I don't know amps and speakers for crap, but playing on that behemoth speaker, it is to sound what ambrosia is to gods. Food. I don't know. That's a bad analogy. But you get the picture.
I'm still bass shopping though and perhaps I may stumble across the perfect bass.

I hate the new ones, they looks shít and they neck-dove just a teeny tiny bit.
Try and get a pre 2006 one, at least I think thats when they released the new ones.

Meh, the more I think about it, the more I want to try out the other Fenders. SInce I owned a Fender Squier I passed on playing the other Fenders there because I figured they'd handle the same.
But now that I am thinking practically I am thinking now of trying out some decent Fenders
My only question otherwise. When it comes to my style of music, I love playing metal and rock. Favorites include Tool, Metallica, Journey, Mastodon, NiN, Manson, and pretty much anything else. The only bass I played that I felt grabbed the power of the low end was the $1700 musicman stingray ( it had 2 pups) and well, I'm kinda thinking. I play mostly by myself, in a bedroom with a 60 watt speaker. I am not into the actual business of gigging, however the more I play the more I want to get some friends, jam, and take this somewhere.
Is it worth it to save up for a damn expensive bass if you feel that you will be playing it for years to come?
Or should I stick with my 750 dollar roof?

Might be worth getting a decent amp for gigging.

Decent means so much these days :<
I know that my uncle has a 100W Fender Rumble, and he also has something like a 300W speaker but no bass head. Don't know if I can talk him outta giving them to me.
I actually tried a few Warwick Rockbasses, like the Corvette and they weren't too bad really. However on more than one occasion I've heard that the electronics have shorted. Don't want to fool with that :<. MEC really sucks eh?
My search continues.

If you dont mind a used bass, ive seen some very nice basses in the 600-700 $ range on the TalkBass classifieds.
