No guns are moral because of the fact that you can shoot the non-believers

gambling is just a tool of the devil and threatens to drain whatever moral standings America has left

I don't see how guns and gambling are related.

Banning either is pretty stupid, though.

Banning guns would not be stupid in theory. It would just lead to more problems. It'd be nice though.

I live in Britain. I can get a tank to drive legally on my roads...

Anyway, i'm concerned cause it hits British firms more than Yankee firms. Its detrimental to our economy...slightly.

how can you ban gambling in a certain country over the internet? i mean, the internet is all over the world, how could you stop it in a specific area without banning it world wide?

well it seemed pretty stupid to have gambeling illegal in most states (or as far as im aware) and still alowing people to gamble online. but then again having it illegal in most states seems pretty stupid to me, its more likley to become a problem if its un-controled because its still going to happen but the people involved aint gona worry how they get there winings back unlike over hear in the uk were its not such a problem.

Mr. Ron

no but seriously why not

Because it would be senseless to let the private sector own a peice of machinery like that. I'm for legalizing all firearms of any type, barring explosives and vehicles like tanks because those things exceed the needs of the civillian population at this current time and situation.

Some would say that civilians should have access to whatever the military has access to. Otherwise, how would we protect ourselves from our own military?

how about the fact that the military cannot act against it's own civilians?

if they kill everyone there would be no one to govern over.

Imagine the costs in road damage a tank would do to roads :smash:

It'd be great to have some assault rifles though.

Hey, whatever protects those brain-dead Americans. I think that the government should ban sharp corners on furniture too.

Guns...online gambling...I guess I missed the connection.

how can you ban gambling in a certain country over the internet? i mean, the internet is all over the world, how could you stop it in a specific area without banning it world wide?

They banned American credit card companies/banks from paying out to online gambling sites. So now if you want to gamble online you have to get an offshore account somewhere. Glad I didn't have stock in any online gambling/betting agency as they all went down the crapper.

I think that the government should ban sharp corners on furniture too.

So do I! Maybe that could be my ticket to wealth. I could sue furniture manufacturers for having sharp corners that led to bruises and cuts on my legs that caused me undue stress and mental anguish!

smart!

This is why "so we can take to arms against our government" is a stupid reason to be allowed firearms. It just doesn't add up!

In all seriousness, it's people's idotic selves that cause them to bet to much on online poker and find themselves in debt. But that's what happens. I think that if you are old enough to fight a war, you can gamble online or off.

um the casino lobby is more powerful than the 'lets not have guns' lobby

I don't see why this is bizarre, seeing as casinos are money factories and telling people not to have guns actually costs money

but it's cool that you thought this had something to do with morality or whatever, you are british and all that

davser
03-28-2007, 06:58 AM
Noting to do with morality at all.

It just seems bizarre that in the US you can't play poker with real money on the internet but can own a lethal weapon. I know what I think is more dangerous to the general public. The only equivalency is that one is banned and the other isn't.

Then again, its probably the usual american protectionsism again. Missed a beat on online gambling then moved to ensure no-one else can cash in. Standard.

Bit of a bump, I know. Been away a while.

Realistically speaking, any firearm is beyond the needs of the civilian population until you need it.

I've been down this line of discussion before as to why I can't buy a nuke in America. If the idea is to form a militia then there is no point in licensing methods in which the government decides what weapons you're allowed. The truth is that nobody except crazy people buy a gun with intent to form a militia as protection against the government. It's just not on the agenda of the average citizen, really.

As for online gambling...why is offline gambling banned? I don't know how far the restrictions go, but it seems a bit absurd that I can't go to the bookies before a football game and bet on the game.
