the jazz theory book.

That coupled with serious electric bass should prove to be a work out.

Although it might be a jump.

the theory book i have is amazing. i love it. its got pretty much everything you could ever need to know about theory.

its not instrument specific, is the thing. well, of course it corresponds directly to piano, but you know...

anyways the book is called HARMONIC PRACTICE IN TONAL MUSIC by Robert Gauldin

i got it through my college... its the text book for like freshman-junior year theory classes, and i believe its about 70 bucks.

thats the only one i know of, but i know its good. theres also like a workbook type thing that is really good to have too. ill look for it on amazon in a bit and post it if i find it.

I have Serious Electric Bass. It is actually a nice book, though I haven't worked all the way through it because I haven't had the time to sit down and use it. I have flipped through it, though, and did some of the exercises. It is nice.

I also have A Manual of Harmony that I randomly found in Powell's (book store) when I was looking through there for theory books. I came across this book, and it looked incredibly old, so I just bought it for the sake of it.

It is originally by S. Jadassohn who was a "teacher in the Royal Conservatory of Music at Leipsic", but my book is "translated from the third augmented and carefully revised German edition by Dr. Th. Baker." I have the thirteenth edition, but the book is copyrighted 1893.

I, mainly, bought it just because it is ridiculously old and I thought it was cool, but I am pretty sure that all points in the book are valid. Not sure that you would be able to find it, though.

Also, I have The Complete Idiot's Guide To Solos & Improvisation. I have only read through it, but I haven't put any of it to use. It has a lot of information in it, though.

Then I have a bunch of other random theory books lying about in my shelf.

Thanks for the sugestions. Im thinking of getting "Jazzology: The Encyclopedia of Jazz Theory for All Musicians" and "Serious Electric Bass".
