To those who haven't heard the song.

Relevance to bass? It's a nice line, amazing tone, and it's got a solo, so...

Thanks for clearing this up, I thought you guys wanted to tour Spain in the other threads.
I really enjoyed the playing in this even though it's not my prefferred genre of music. Actually I really can't stand this type of music normally.

Wow, that's insane. You wouldn't by any chance have sheet for that, would you?
The sax solo blew my mind. I couldn't play sax like that in a million years.

I'm going to have to go back to learning some Jaco to work my way up to play this, and other fusion songs.
Peeted: It's on my myspace, too :p.

That was pretty sweet, but I wish Patitucci's solo used more of his bass. I love me some Rhodes though, what a nice sound.

I love the Patitucci wobble whenever he solos

This is a weird feel... I think it's lacking a lot of energy, but I kind of like what Weckl did with it in places.
I didn't like Stanley's original bass solo though to be honest, so this probably has an advantage in that department for me.

i dont like stanleys solo as much either but i think he plays the song alot more smoothley than patitucci and that recording just generaly has a better feel.

If so, post it. I'm trying to convince my jazz teacher to let us play this song at the N.A.U. competition sometime during the winter.

Thats a great song. Chick Corea does definitely rule. The Rumble is one of my favourite songs.

It seemed a lot more...sterile (I dunno if that's the right word) than the recording. To me, that song really needs a flute, and the distorted guitar took away from some of the aesthetic. Still, pretty tasty playing all around, and the call/response with the audience was fun.

I actually agree with that...and although I love Dave Weckl, a lot of his stuff is very mechanical (but when he does get the feel for something, I think it's phenomenal). Some of what he did here was a bit flat and dull (though other bits were good), and I didn't like Gambale's tone at all. JP's was a little dull as well, anybody else think that?

its just a completley diffrent band and feel, the electrik cand play crazy outlandish music, iwch is absolutley fantastic but spain isnt a crazy outlandish song so its never realy going to sound right played by them.
