Discuss the awesomeness of the Dropkick Murphys ITT.

I've only lately gotten into them, and since I've loved 'em.

Yeah, they're pretty sweet. I remember a year or two ago a friend of mine and I went on a huuuuge Dropkick...kick. It was pretty nuts.

Random fact..On The Spicy McHaggis Jig, the Piper (Spicy McHaggis) plays TERRIBLE. Within the first intro he makes about 5 HUGE rather obvious sounding mistakes.

Flogging Molly are better.

Not really..Flogging Molly don't have Pipes as often.

But they are really good too.

Now you see, I did not know that.

I've learned something via mx today, and that's a good thing.

Flogging Molly are about the same, imo.

I don't really listen to either of 'em nowadays, though. Kinda burnt my love out for them.

Actually why not just go for the gold and say that the Pogues are better than all of them.

even though they don't have crappy distorted guitars

The Pogues aren't better than DKM or Flogging Molly. They're not bad, but barely half as good. They're deffinatly part of the cause for these two bands though.

The Pogues are really good.

I like a lot of 'Celtic Punk', or whatever you want to call it. The Pogues, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, The Tossers, Real McKenzies, Flatfoot 56.

Yeah, I guess Celtic Punk is a good term for it. I think it has an actual name, but I can't seem to drudge it up from the dark recesses of my mind atm :-\

I like a lot of it, too. It's the Irish in me :o

Scotland/Ireland/England for me.

I love it all, I'm just saying, it's not as good. And how can you question my sexuality? I wear a kilt! I play Bagpipes! There are nay more manlier things you can do!

(Amazed I actually used the word "nay")

ok i love the dropkick murphys, but theyre not pop-punk. theyre straight punk. i guess this was just posted cuz the poster frequents this forum, not the punk one? but theyre in no way pop-punk..

anyways that being said, i love em but i think they should have explored more into different styles of songs..

I posted it here, because when I heard it, it went right away in my mind into Pop-Punk..But meh.

Hep Kat

I wouldn't really call the Dropkick Murphys "straight punk."

But then again, what actually deserves to be labeled punk nowadays?

No one really.

They have a much stronger Pop-Punk sound than Punk.

It depends what you're listening to. They're older stuff (at least) is pretty much punk.

i live in scotland and im a quarter irish. and the pogues are better but none of these bands are really related. flogging molly are irish punk, dkm are boston punk with humour. the pogues are celtic punk. i dont think comparison should be made.
