So I changed my strings for the first time ever today, I've had the old ones on my bass for 2 1/2 years and damn if the new ones don't sound better. Anyway to give this thread a point, discuss the longest any of you have had strings on your bass.
Also, my old strings had red thread on the ends and I got Rotosound strings which dont, can any of you tell me what strings have that red thread on the ends. Thanks

I think 3 months is the longest I went without changing my strings.
And Rotosound should have the red at the end of the strings, but which ones do you have.

3 and a half years.
Simply because I was too damned lazy to change them.
Now I change them about every month or two.

I still haven't changed the strings on my SR506 that I got last March (2005). So, it's been 18 months so far. I'm in no rush to change them. :p

The strings on my P have been on there for like 3+ years lol, I've just been too lazy to change them. Usually only change them if one breaks or something.

one year for my schecter, changing because you could see some marks on the coating. . . and because i played with a pick one time and messed up the coating a little bit :'(
<3 Elixirs
Coming up on about 7-8 months.
Granted they are a set of D'Addario Chromes on a fretless.
Otherwise about 2 months at most, I generally try to change when I am going to record.

I don't keep track, I don't mind dead strings unless they are really old.

i keep my strings on four probably about 4 months roughly. I don't have money to change them all the time.

i used to change my strings monthly when i used a stingray as my main bass.. i didnt like the tone of it with old strings..
now i use a jazz bass and i change my strings every 3 months.
I used to change my strings ever 3-4 months until I started washing my hands every time I played. If you don't already, do it. Now my strings last twice as long. I've had mine on since May (I think).

My strings on my first bass, which is a GSR200, still have its first set of strings on it, and I bought it about three and a half years ago, maybe. With the exception of the E string, though, because I snapped it.
Anyway, I don't play that bass anymore, so it doesn't really matter to me at the moment. I change my strings when I start to dislike the tone of them.
