Hi guys,
I'm having lot's of trouble deciding on which audio interface to get.
Because i have never had one, i don't really know what makes it really good or not. But, lately if been looking at the PRESONUS FIREBOX and also the
M-Audio MobilePre USB Portable Audio Interfacehttp://

The firebox is alot more expensive.. and im trying not to spend that much so i think im swaying towards the m-audio. But please give me some info on the 2 if you own one or recommend others.
Thanks a lot.

Take a look at the Tascam US-122 USB interface.

It has 2 channels of audio with preamps like the M-Audio MobilePre. It also carries MIDI, so if you ever decide you need MIDI you'll have it already. Also the software package is better than the M-Audio's, while it's still cheaper than the Firebox.

Im definately considering a interface with midi because i plan on working with a keyboard aswell, but what does the tascam us-122 lack compared to the firebox. The firebox is a few more $100's but how come it is more expensive?
And can i get good quality recordings with the tascam us-122?
thanks again.

It's probably 2 things:

1) the Firebox has better PreSonus preamps (you likely won't notice the difference)

2) the Firebox uses Firewire, rather than USB

There may be other things I don't know about. I don't have either device, but I've read the specs on all of them. Also the US-122 used to be more expensive, but I think they're clearing them out for the next version of it, so prices have gone down.
