Can anyone explain how to determine what the BPM is of a song? I'm hoping for a good basic explanation. I have songs written, but I don't know how to determine what the BPM are for them. Thanks very much for any helpful info. :thumb:

Hey Thanks Moseph. It looks like it would be a helpful program. I run some of their other stuff, for computer security, so I know their programs are adware/spyware/malware free. You should be getting paid for all your great posts! :chug:

Other way to do it:

This way assumes that the piece is a constant tempo (BPM) all the way through, and constant time signature as well. This can easily be adjusted for changing time signatures and changing tempos as well, though.

Count the number of bars in the piece. You might want to do this several times, just to make sure.

Multiply the number of bars by the number of beats per bar. This tells you number of beats in the entire song.

Divide this by the length of the song in minutes. Remember NOT to include silence or hold notes at the start or end of the song in this bit.

This gives you the average BPM.

get a metronome, play the song along with it and make adjustments to the metronome till its perfect, then read what tempo it sais on the metronome.

I tried that, but you really need it to land on the first beat to work...I think my way's better.

hmm bpm=beats per minute.
Count how many beats there are in 10 seconds, then times it by 6.

Or he could count how many beats in 6 seconds, and times it by 10!.
