Ok so I am starting to make up my own original riffs and licks. I came up with this short song, but I want to add to it:

The problem is, I am having trouble coming up with riffs and chord progressions that go well toether and transition into one another sounding good, not just random passages of music. Does anyone have any tips on where I can learn this sort of thing? I like that song and I would like to add more to it, i'm just stuck on how.

Do you know any theory? if not learn some its extremely helpful. some good sites are either cyberfret.com or wholenote.com .
Also listen to some different genres of music than you normally do, it might give you some ideas.

do you know what scale you were using? i agree with what the guy above said, but dont just learn theory, learn how to apply it to what your doing. you mentioned chord progressions, if you learn theory (scales and chord construction inparticular) youll have a good base to get started writing.
or if doing abit of work isnt your thing, just mess around with power or barre chord shapes and patterns, itll be a quick fix but if you really want to know what your doing begin learning theory.

Usually when I'm stuck on a song I'll record what I have and play it back. While its playing I'll jam along with my bass or acoustic and as it finishes, I'll just improv. a capella onto the end of it until I find something that fits really nice.
As has been said, scale and chord theory helps LOADS. If you know what key its in then you can easily figure out which chords to use and which not to. Hell, if you know your circle of fifths then you can even be a smartass and modulate to relative major/minor. I find that fits well in some songs.
