Hey dudes. This might interest Moseph and a few others.
I stumbled across some stuff from Pink Floyd's Pulse DVD on You Tube.
Check out the lighting sequence they have going towards the end of this.
They're running about $3 million worth of lights on this rig, which includes intellispots, intellibeams, a fu*kload of parcans and a giant mirror ball.
When you look at the size of the stage, then the size of the arena, you'll realise how fu*king huge this monster is.
I know a lot of techies don't watch a whole bunch of music DVDs normally, so I thought you might enjoy this sh!t.

Buy this DVD if you're a sound and light dude, seriously, you'll learn a lot of sh!t they don't teach you at roadie school.

The lighting, lasers, and that god damn mirror ball are so incredible.
You should check out the end of 'Time', they have amaaaaaaazing sequences there that fit the music soooo so well. The use of the circular screen on which they play accompanying videos through DSOTM and a few on the first disc are also pretty incredible. Definately recommend checking it out if you're into this kinda stuff.

Is no one gonna point out the matal frame of a plane they crash into the side of the stage, that flies across the stadium on a wire shooting sparks? Amazing.

Hell yeah man.
No-one does sh!t like this anymore.
The vast majority of shows I've been too resenctly just has the lighting dude (who has a Hog desk, Light Jockey and a couple of thousand of dollers worth of intelligent lights at his fingertips, the bastard) occasionally changing the color of the lights and not actually adding to the music.
I want Pink Floyd's roadies to join my band :(

Yeah i wish more bands put on a show like them. That would be awesome having those roadies :p , what kinda stuff if any does anyone here do at their shows?
Btw, Roger said in an interview that during the Animals tour they had 8 rocket launcher things that would shoot a sheep thing far above everyones heads, then explode into a big sheep balloon with weights at its feet, so youd be there listening to them play 'Sheep' and have 8 or so giant sheep floating down from the sky, amazing.

My band smashed a TV on stage once. That's about it.

Pink floyds lighting rig is ace, god only knows where they got that mirror ball that opens up or the plane thingy.
They know how to put on a good show to say the least and the music is fantic.
Geniuses, absolute geniuses.

A friend of mine put together his Master's Thesis performance last May and a major part of his show was the interaction of the stage with the music. Using MIDI triggers (he was leading an percussion and rhythm oriented group) he controlled the lighting rigs in the venue. I saw video clips of the DVD he's putting together and it was pretty cool.
He did it on less than $1000, though the venue provided nearly all of the actual hardware.

MIDI triggers are a mixed blessing. They're great for intelligent lights, but I hate using them for parcans (the globes take too long to heat up). I generally use audio triggers on the drums for Intelligent lights and use my natural sence of rythem for parcans.
I'm saving for a copy of light jockey.
