well i figured i'd take a look at the meinl website and listen to some sound clips. well I didn't really like anything there until i came across their 12"jungle hats. I love the sound of these beauties.well i was woundering if anyone know how they would sound in a rock setting? please do not offer me any other suggestions of what to get, i already have alternatives. Also, how will these work in sound along an AAX dry ride, And an AAX dark crash?

They'd fit well with the AAXs, but wouldn't cut it as mains I don't think. Nice choice in cymbals dood!

thanks for the reply
i was thinking that. now i just have to decide between 13" hhx grooves or 13"AAX stages. i'll get the jungle hats first and see how they works out, then get on of the other two and keep the jungles for aux

I dunno man. IMO most Meinl cymbals sound really clangy to me, especially the Generation X series.

i'm still a while till i'll be in a finacial status to actually buy some acoustic drums so i'll have plenty of time to try stuff out. i'm just trying to get a set direction to go in before i buy. it's like building a custom car. u need to know what you want the finished product is going to be.

I think Johnny Rabb's Safari hats are caused by one cymbal ontop of the top high-hat, which cuases its unique sound.
Once you unscrew the top cymbal, it acts as somewhat of a normal cymbal.
I belive that's how it works.. Just incase you didn't know.

^my dream hi-hats. except in 13". 10 years' Brian Vodinh uses them on The Autumn Effect, and they sound so god damn nice. Oh god those are good hats. Too bad there are no Meinl dealers near me, because I would never dream of buying a set of hi-hats without hearing them in person first.

Yeah. Byzances are about 60% of Ks, and depending on the make, sound justasgood/better.
Try better..
I'd take Byzance's over K's anyday.
